Everton's stadium is as landlocked as ours both stadiums are surrounded by terraced houses I suppose liverpools is slightly more free than Everton's not sure about tottenhams I have never been there. A new stadium is not just about numerical capacity.

I thought you could as you’ve pretty much said we have no future with not getting a new stadium?

I think it will catch us out eventually yes. No future at all might be an exaggeration but in future our infrastructure will be lacking. Call me naive but I would like the club to be successful in all aspects. This is not my opinion almost all our rivals are doing what I am suggesting are those boards of directors wrong ?

I agree, having a nice new state of the art stadium would be great, but I just do not see how the finances justify it, we already have nearly 55,000, we could go upto around 62,000 with a relatively small spend on the Anfield Road end.

The clubs that are building new stadiums have no option to extend their ground, the likes of Arsenal, Everton & Chelsea.

You are talking nearly a £1 billion these days for a stadium, based on the quotes going around for Tottenham & Everton, it makes more sense to extend/improve what you have, unless we have some billionaire happy to finance it, which we do not.

allot of the matchday revenue is made through corporate these days, so improving that and maximising it, like we did for the Main stand makes more sense, not good for the normal fans, but it's the way the club can increase match day revenue, we saw the reaction 3 years ago when FSG wanted to increase the ticket prices for the normal fans, so I cannot see how they could pass on the cost of a new stadium by increasing ticket prices.

I agree under the FSG model there is no way the club could develop a new stadium. It's simply not going to happen ever. The only hope is new owners but even then we are probably too far down the road of developing anfield. However no one can stop me dreaming of that because long term I think it will hold the club back.

I agree under the FSG model it won't happen, under most business models it will not happen, as it just does not add up as being good business, a new stadium is a great asset, if you have the means to deliver it and deliver on the pitch.

On the pitch is the key area, so I do not see it holding us back, a huge following around the world will never visit Anfield, winning trophies is what delivers global fans/recognition, which increases TV revenue/sponsorship/merchandising, which drives money into the club.

If we build a new stadium with 62,000 seats, we will still charge the same ticket price as Anfield at 62,000 seats, so there is no real business benefit to delivering a new stadium, if Anfield was stuck at 40,000 with no option to expand (like Everton), then we would just have to take the risk and build a new stadium and probably give up competing on the pitch/for the best players for a long time while we pay for the new stadium, like Arsenal have and Tottenham probably will.

Dream away, I hope your dreams come true!

Why would any owner build a new stadium if increasing the seats by re-developing makes more economic sense and keeps the Anfield atmosphere?

Love for the club combined with too much money on the bank account?

He has already said it won't happen under these owners.

So you can see the future then?

It won't happen under any owner, people don't build 1 billion GBP stadiums out of love, it has to make economic sense. Abramovich who always had a relatively small stadium is still reflecting on building a new one and nobody had spent more money than him on a club.

Yep. Even City’s owner didn’t build their stadium even if he may have been the only one rich enough to build one. It would ruin the club at least in the short term for no real long term gain.

The club had the chance on more than one occasion to develop with the support of the city region certainly there was a chance in the last decade with the governments giving billions to the regions. There was government funding to help with the stanley park development which as I recall included a dedicated rail station direct to the city centre like Manchester City and united have. I would not be surprised if Everton have something similar. All these big projects are partnerships along with serveral partners and funding is over long term. It's rarely some big rich owner paying for it as you lot seem to think. FSG,s strategy has been short term investment early or immediate payback. We may do well on the field for a spell I think at that point they will get out it will be then up to new owners to decide how to take the club forward. The stadium was an issue, it's still and issue and has not been fixed merely by rebuilding the main stand which was pretty much falling down anyway
