And you still haven’t answered my question. Should we buy a player who we know has a dodgy knee? Sounds like we were rushing it through to sign him before he left for the WC, most of us were happy we were tying the deal up quickly, so we can't really blame FSG for trying to do something we were all lauding them for, like we did for the Fabinho deal.
Hercules will always find a way to blame FSG because they don't have the Sheiks money to throw away. I've not mentioned FSG in any of my posts on this issue, yet some would like to put words in my mouth it seems. For the record I don't think FSG top brass had any involvement in this hamfisted cock up, as they'd have left that to staff further down the chain, having presumably ok'd the expenditure.

Fekir's knee injury was well known before we went in for him, plus subsequent additional injuries, so it seems a bit ham fisted to be arguing about fitness injuries now, after the announcement video was shot and a jersey number allocated!!also there was a difference of medical opinion on the seriousness of the injury, all very strange. When you pay £50+ million for a player, the medical people will be looking at his fitness over the length of his contract, which could be 5 years, so they might say he's fine now, but there could be degenerative damage to the knee that in the next few years could cause problems/weaken the knee, that level of detail would only come out in a full medical with X-rays etc, sometime you take a risk, like Man Utd did with Van Nistelrooy, which worked out well for them. This affects getting medical insurance etc, so it's important for the club/business, as he's a 50 million asset. And if it goes tits up you can't sell a sicknote on £150k plus a week for all that much.

However, if you put injury related discounts or games played related fees instead of paying the whole fee upfront without conditions, it would make sense, no?

They're operating on a budget and will be holding out to get as much money guaranteed up front as they possibly can.

What they did miss though is that Aulas didn't want to sell at least before the wc. He was being forced by Fekir who probably had a deal with him. He jumped on the opportunity of not selling. He doesn't really need to sell since Lyon qualified for CL.
