I am an old fart, and have witnessed the wonderful successes in the 80's. Since then the club and the team wandered, stumbled, stuttered, etc etc. In that time my hopes were raised and dashed many many times and even though I love the club, there have been many unworthy managers and sheety players come and go.
The Champions League win under Rafa, in my opinion was a freakish miracle and did not signal a resurgence of LFC in world football.
This time I believe we will win and it will signal the new Liverpool in years to come.
My prediction is a 3-2 victory, with plenty of drama in the last 15 minutes.
And it is not a false dawn.
Fook yea. This our time! Fact is, the 2005 campaign wasn't freakish even though it may have appeared so at the time. Rafa proved it over the next few seasons as we were always competetive in the CL. It therefore certainly did signal a resurgence of LFC in world football as was subsequently reflected in our UEFA no 1 ranking I believe. The downfall was the relationship with the owners. This time round, whilst Klopp is doing great, I don't expect this season's perfromance to signal a resurgence. It would be good if it did but I won't expect it to. Reasons being, we've already lost a world class player this season and are now relying on one who has surprised everyone this season. If he leaves or his form dips, then against the best teams we don't have much to provide a sustained challenge. Even Klopp will probably only be with us for 3 to 4 more seasons it seems. Hence for now I've decided to simply try and enjoy the moment. Each game one at a time, enjoy the anticipation and the level of entertainment that the team is providing and not worry or even think about future world domination. That reminds me. I need to check the fixture list to see when our next game is. Big difference this time is that we have never been in a better financial position with a relatively low debt, record profits last season which I expect to be even better this season, increased stadium capacity especially corporate seats, more money from the epl and a few very good young players. Only drawback is that there are 6 teams fighting for CL as opposed to 4 in Rafa days.

That team didn't even qualify for the next year's tournament without winning it. Rafa and Carragher have both said this team is better than that team was, and that Milan side was as good or better than this Madrid.

Had the misfortune to find out that one of my work colleagues is a RM fan. He doesn't give us a chance. Arrogant fukk. I so hope we give them a spanking tonight.

I think this could come down to mentality.
If we play our style for as long as we can i think we have the better of them, our tempo is certainly higher and the 3 lads could easily undo their defence, they could actually get a rout of goals in the first half.
However, Klopp has yet to prove he has the mind set (or infuse the mind set into his side) to get over the line. He has fell short so far on a number of occasions when expectation and pressure were high.
We have no experienced winners on our team. None. Not as individuals or as a unit. This is brand new territory and they could easily freeze up and psyche out on the night. Even with a 4 goal lead we can crack at the seems.
Madrid on the other hand no exactly what this is all about and what is required. They could play [oops] for 90 minutes, not get phased and win it. No we don't have the better team, we may have the better mentality and hopefully we get the type we had against City at home (3-0), my best game of the season, and don't get tired at the end. We do have a chance I think we have the better attacking Force when on form because it doesn't all boil down to one or two players.
Luis Garcia, He drinks sangria He came from Barca, to bring us Joy He's five foot seven, he's football heaven please don't take my Luis away.

Yeah, Klopp's mindset to win two German leagues ahead of the only team in Germany is proper shitte. I don't know how we can win it with such a loser in charge. I might just go and have a few cocktails instead of watching now. You do that. But know that your quick wit will be missed.

Only our attack can be comparable and at times better them, for the rest they are better everywhere. This is why I said they have a better team.

Rafa and Carragher have both said this team is better than that team was, and that Milan side was as good or better than this Madrid. I'd say we didn't build on it. That was the problem. It may have been miraculous but it wasn't a freakish miracle. The miracle was Rafa's hard work, nous,'genius' perhaps. Earlier that season Gerrard had expressed doubts in public about winning it and Rafa had to correct him in public too. We also had some great results before the final. So Rafa had already laid the foundations by the time we won the final and he continued that level of competetiveness for the next few seasons. For whatever reason, we faied to build on it.

When Rafa left, we were the number 1 team in Europe. Two semifinal appearances and a final after that game.
