Play the lads who got us here. Why? We need to play our best available players, no emotions Those are our best players. Clyne has less champions league experience than Trent, not more. Trent is faster, bigger, better on the ball, sharper, and more experienced in Europe I like Clyne, but he's on the bench. Can is an option, and would likely be my first sub, but he's been out. A fit Clyne is a better defender than TAA, so would play him if he is fit and ready. With TAA you can expect the best or the worst as with any player of that age.

[/quote]This game isn't about the future, it's about a chance to bring home the trophy. The best available should play. Souness' last game was a Cl final, and what a swansong it was. If he wins the match, I don't care if he fcks off next year. At least we knew Souness & Keegan were going and we got transfer fees for them both...not this... will he or won't he nonsense we've had to endure from Can for nearly a year and a half! Judged on his history with us, he'd be no use to man nor beast coming back from injury and not match fit. We should have put him in the reserves awhile back and made him make up his mind!

Definitely start with TAA. Against City this season he has had Sane in his pocket. He has helped get us here and a confident TAA can handle Ronaldo. If it goes wrong we have back up on the bench. Can isn't fit so won't make the bench anyway.

TAA all day, every day. He's in form, been picked for the WC squad n full of confidence, Clyne on the other hand is in deClyne !

Klopp has some big calls to make, I'm guessing he's just glad to have options now after the recent injuries!
Whether Can is leaving or not doesn't bother me, we just need to put out our best team on the night, the risk with Can is that after not playing a while, he usually takes time to get upto speed, there's also the chance of aggravating the injury.
One major advantage we have is that we are younger and have more energy than RM, who have a few players past their best and will not close down/track back as much, so we need to have our fittest mobile players chasing down RM.
TAA strength is that he's good going forward, so can expose the space Marcelo gives, equally that's his weakness as he can be exposed by the likes of Bale & Ronaldo.

Yes ecnirp, and I'll be interested to see how Klopp handles the necessity for covering the hole TAA is inclined to leave when bombing too far forward. For me that's the most likely route for Real to our goal. I can see Ronaldo exploiting that gap especially in the first 60 minutes.

I think Ronaldo will be following Lovren round, as he can do him for pace, where aa TAA is probably faster now, I'm hoping VvD keeps an eye on Ronaldo and Lovren picks up Benzema, as that will suit Lovren more. Zidane doesn't seem to fancy Bale, I think Benzema will start and Bale will be on the bench, which will suit us, Bale is one of the players that really concerns me, so I hope he's on the bench.

Well maybe, but Ronaldo likes to bomb down the wing, and I'd be surprised if he doesn't see an opportunity there, giving the way TAA goes forward, and his inexperience. Anyway it's going to be a fascinating tactical battle.

Ronaldo plays more like CF than a winger these days, he's very clever positionally and picks off his opponents rather than using pace now, he doesn't cover much or track back, so there are the sort of players we need to exploit by closing them down quickly, the likes of Modric/Ronaldo/Benzema aren't going to be closing down.
The Ref has a big part to play, RM will be rolling all over when we are closing them down, we don't want players on yellows early doors, as RM will exploit that to get someone sent off, Salah & Mane should be able to get at Ramos, he hasn't got the pace now and is a red card walking.
I agree, it's going to be a fascinating battle, RM haven't met a team like us in La Liga, I think Klopp has the edge over Zidane with his experience.
