Benitez, whose family home is in nearby Wirral, had both sets of fans singing his name towards the end.

"Obviously, on a personal level I'm really pleased with our fans and the Liverpool fans - both were really good for me," he added.

"But we didn't get any points. So I'm happy, but really disappointed."

Good win, Newcastle kept it tight, we took our chances, good to see Mane score again, took his goal well, nice to see us win when we're not on top form and scoring 5.

Karius did well, kept his concentration, made one good save and commanded his box.

We did what we needed to, pressure now on Chelski and Man Ure, hopefully City will give Chelski a thumping tomorrow.

Good win and a good performwnce because the way they defended it feels like we had a poor gwme but we were clinical in the right moments. Very pleased with the 3 points. Big test next weekend at their place.

Big recent change for me has been calmness in defence since VVD arrived. However, the big test is next Saturday, didn't expect United to come back and win it against Chelsea last week.

United away in my opinion the toughest fixture in the league as we always drop points but we are in form so anything can happen. I expect a draw there.

Well I'd take a draw, but I'm hoping for a win, first because it would be sweet, and then because of the league position it'd put us in, as well as keeping us ahead of Spurs who seem to be circling around that 2nd spot like vultures around a smitten beast!

I'd take a draw against Man Ure now, Mourinho will have to come out fighting though, can't see him parking the bus at old toilet against us.

The bus has no wheels they just crane it in for every game .

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Hmmm, I doubt he'll go for it from the off, first because it isn't his style, and second because he knows it'll play to our strengths if he does. I'd expect him to setup with considerable caution, trying to keep the ball until we tire and then ramp up the pressure in the second half, while hoping to catch us on an occasional break in the meantime.
