Why didn't we match for 90 mil? We have 24 hours to fleece Barca for 140-160 mil for Phil. We were going to pay 90 + mil for Keita - then got him for 48 next year. We saved 50 mil that could have been put into Lemar. I don't get Liverpool's thinking. They want shot of Coutinho (really) and had the perfect opportunity to please all parties. But the biggest failure is not getting a single CB in three months.
I think he highest we bid for Keita was 66m, so not sure where you've got that we were willing to spend over 90m? He's also cost us more than 48m as we had to pay a premium to get the deal done, so that saving of 50m you've come up with is a massive overstatement (by about 35-40m).
I agree though that had we got Lemar and sold Coutinho it would have worked for everyone, but is Lemar worth anywhere near 90m? I'd never even heard of him before this (that could just be my lack of familiarity with the French league)
IMO if we were going to bid 90m for anyone it should have been for Van Dyke as that would have strengthened our team the most
