I agree with the sentiments of the opening post regarding the OTT criticism of Karius. I do think Klopp took a gamble and perhaps erred when he put him in the team and I thought he had the opportunity to take him out of the firing line a couple of weeks back.
However, under the current circumstance I think it would be good for us, Klopp and the fans, to back Karius now. We can't have so called pundits picking teams and making decisions about players. Remember Neville's OTT criticism of David Luiz? In my view Carragher and the Neville brothers have been unprofessional in how they've voiced their opinions.
Whether Karius is better than Migs is no longer the point. In my opinion he hasn't been better so far, but we have to trust Klopp's judgement. He obviously must feel that Karius has more potential, is the better option going forward and therefore feels it's better to start giving him first team game time.
I agree, I've not been impressed by Karius so far, but he needs more time, I would like to see him behind a settled defence for about 6-8 games, that would be Milner / Lovren / Matip / Clyne, that's probably our best defence atm, not that I think Lovren is particularly good and I would prefer a specialist LB, but Milner has done well as cover.
Karius played for Mainz for 5 years (4 years in first team) so I am sure Klopp knew all about his ability and mentality as he would have seen allot of him in Germany and will have allot of info from Mainz being their ex-manager, so I am happy to leave it to Klopp.
Taking on the media and individuals is always risky, I remember Rafa with his list on Fergy, just wasn't good, but I think Klopp knows what he's upto and I do like a manager who stands up for his players, even if he does Boll*ck em in the background, that should never be public, I always liked Fergy for that.
