When Souness took over he drew a line down the club and said players and officials this side journalists, pundits and ex players that side, because Liverpool had never done this before it put alot of people especialy the media out, they did not like this and savaged Souey every chance they got in the papers and in radio and television.
Now fast forward to Gerrard Houllier he was different again he run the club like a dictatorship, he let people from the media inside but if anyone reported something he did'nt like or in the way he wanted, they were banned from the club completely this happend to Liverpool greats like Ian St John and Alan Kennedy.
This feller we have now is even worse because he is deeper, darker and far more political, he uses mind games and also preys on Liverpool fans weak minds to gain power, he usues conflict to help him gain the upper hand like he has done with Parry and this is what he is doing now by playing the club off against Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan he is doing it now to get what he wants when negotiating for things he wants this summer. He has recently brought Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish to the club because he knows this will gain support from the fans so that when he goes into battle, the fans will be with him and not against him, the fan power is a major weapon especialy given the clubs situation at present and he knows this.
The point about ex players and the media I am making is that all these ex players get well looked after by the club and Benitez and none of them want to lose there privlidges like the Saint and Barney Rubble did so thats why Barnsey and Aldridge say things without being controversial, I reckon they think differently privately, they must do to see through the current manager.

In your opinion.
have a missed something here, is'nt a forum all about sharing opinions wether we agree on them or disagree.

Like I said in your opinion.

In fairness to barnes he's sat in the hot seat as a coach and knows how difficult this job is. I respect he still see's Rafa as a top coach and man for the job. Fair play to Barnsie!!!

pot kettle black
any pundit against wafa was utterly savaged by the pro wafa brigade, even though they were proven spot on. johnny barnes never says anything remotely insightful about footy. he was a gem of a player though.

Plenty of former Reds stars have secured work in the media and Benitez has had to listen to them giving their opinion on what has been a disappointing season.

However, he felt the need to respond to the comments of former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp after the 2-1 defeat at Manchester United.

Redknapp, a close friend of Steven Gerrard, criticised Benitez for moving the England midfielder to different positions as they chased an equaliser late on.

To back up his assertion that Liverpool were a weaker team than the previous season he referenced the influence of Xabi Alonso, sold to Real Madrid in the summer, in the 4-1 win at Old Trafford last March. That finally prompted Benitez into a response.

"I was surprised to see some comments by some experts talking about how they could see Alonso playing in the 4-1 win against United - he didn't play,'' Benitez said, referring to the fact the Spain midfielder was injured.

"This expert said he (Gerrard) cannot play on the left but he is playing with the national team on the left. He was playing here on the right and scoring 23 goals so Gerrard can play everywhere. It depends on the team

Not quite spot on eh.

alrite we know Souey, Lawro and Whelan have said things wrong in the past but you cant doubt there affection and Love for the club. They feel just as frustrated and unhappy as we do with the state of our club and as for Ronnie Whelan being a manc come on have a word with yourself, Ronnie whelan may have been brought up supporting United but he nailed his colours firmly to the mast when he scored against them in 83 at Wembley and again at Goodison Park in 85 never heard anyone talk about his Mank tendencies then, going on your logic Carragher and Rushie will always be toffs then.
