Let's just wait and see how he and we get on when we have a few less injuries and if he gets a chance with a partner. He might still be cack and if so then is the time to be calling him [oops].

No because they used him as a lone striker. Their counter attacking went through him as an outlet. They got the ball directly into his feet so he could then hold it up while people made runs and got into good positions, to stretch teams.

I'm not sure wilkij if he can't press effectively and get in behind a defence I doubt he has much chance. Yes we can utilize him out-wide like we did against leicester. But the best lonestikers, like torres in 09, can have the ball at their feet and dribble with it. What you are saying wikij is about changing our passing style of football, using normal wingers, creating space inside for our central midfielders, like man utd of old. I prefer narrow because it's more defensively sound, like Exeter should have shown, if they weren't so deficient at defending.

You're right, even with a strike partner we'll need to see much more movement, but it's a way of getting balls into him in a less forced way. Sturridge can cross, Henderson and Can can both make diagonal runs to wide areas with the ball and put it in both on the outside edges of the diamond, or give it to moreno and clyne to deliver when they support the 2 in central midfield to become a 4.

If a liverpool striker works out, they normally work out from the start, even Suarez showed signs. It's ironic really, carroll and benteke both score magnificent volleys at the start of their liverpool careers but can't continue that early promise, we'll have to wait and see. I hope klopp makes it possible for benteke to start playing with freedom and scoring for with his feet and with his head. I think this is an important thing, liverpool enjoy their football.

There's no proper service to Benteke. The first thought in Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana's head is to either do some intricate build up play on the edge of the box or shoot. None of them have got the pace to drive past players and play the ball to Benteke in the box (this could be a driven ground pass or a pull back, not just lobbed hopeless crosses into the box).

By the time the ball does work itself to Benteke in the box (normally a poor ball) the build up play is so slow or sloppy everyone from the other team is back congesting the box.

He is not suited to our style of play unless that changes with better wingers. I can only see him being an impact sub, but at the moment he is not even that. With the right service he will get goals. But he is not good to change our style of play to suit him

I think our style will change once Klopp gets his own players in and gets rid of the ineffective rubbish that Rodgers bought.

That's how you break down a side if there is no opening, move the ball around quickly, exploit the space out wide, make the other team move, draw them out. Drive past players when there is no space? they aren't Messi.

It's not just a problem with the 3 attack midfielders to get benteke more involved, it's benteke, and the 2 players behind the 3 attack mids themselves also. You're right though there isn't enough purpose in the runs and momentum in our attacks though. yet you can see there is for the last 2 goals benteke has scored, some good direct passing as well.

Precisely we can't counter attack effectively with benteke in the team or give him easy service because there is hardly anything to aim at because they are all back, I'm surprised Ibe even got that chance of a late shot on the counter against Sunderland, when they totally committed bodies forward.

Most of the time there not building up the play quickly or purposefully so they never get the opposition out of shape.

Our build up tends to be slow so we don't counter teams either.

A cross aimed at Benteke in to a position where he can execute a finish, can hardly be described as a 'goal out of nothing'!!!! :-)

Great effort against WH, nothing to show.

We all know about his aerial ability, but if he can't play in a strike partnership in future, he's not going to be very good linking up play full stop, which is what we require of our striker. Also his ability to finish 1v1's is total uncharasteristic of an lfc forward, it's okay to miss one or two, but not if you're a 32.5 million pound player, gone on to miss over 5! We need pace up front.
