The news page is saying we're to confirm the signing of Ings.

At least they're going about their business early on instead of farting around as usual.

Getting the signings in early is only a bonus if they are actually top players who are going to make a difference. Will Ings really be 1st name on the team sheet and make us much better? I'm more interested in which players will leave than who is coming in at the moment.

We need an established striker to replace Suarez. We bought players early on last summer but never got the player we really needed - a top striker. I have faith in Brendan to learn from his mistakes and kick on next year though.

What makes you think Brendan:

A) wants a new striker
B) has the funds to buy one
C) can attract the necessary quantity considering our status as a club and his reputation within the game

He has Borini, Lambert, & Balotelli. Maybe they are only good enough as backup strikers, but with Sturridge injured, why weren't they utilised? Is it not correct that a backup striker can expect to play when the main striker isn't available? Those 3 players equate to £30m of (questionable) talent and £200k per week in wages. What is their purpose if it's not to fill in for Sturridge?

Another 5m down the drain on yet another rubbish striker that will most likely be sold by next season. smh.

He said in an interview in the past when we failed to score that they are in need of in the final third to ball in the net. He's also said he needs a player to take the weight of Sturridge.

We should have the funds, and we definitely should if we/when we sell some dead wood.

Top players will sign for Liverpool given the history and size of the club, and Rodgers is a bright young manager. Without champions league though it will be difficult and our choices will be reduced.

Borini etc are not good enough. Top teams have several players who can compete for a position. It is not healthy to have one striker much better than the rest and the others only getting a look in when the other is injured. They should be competing against each other to push each other on. The purpose of them is to compete for places which they are not doing - they are simply not good enough. And they're not good enough for backup either hence why we have often played Sterling or Lallana up front or in a false 9.

So you're not even going to give him a chance?? Why not try backing the lad and you might be surprised!

Nope, not going to back mediocrity. We need better, we must sign better. This is LFC ffs not Ipswich.
