I'm thinking this: sterling's demands aren't about money. He wants to be played as a striker and BR is trying to accommodate him in order to get him to sign a new contract.

I can see why BR plays sterling up front:

Balotelli has been garbage
Lambert is Plan B...starting him would require us to change our play
Borini hasn't made the grade and refuses to leave

Under the circumstances maybe Sterling IS our best option?

I don't agree that Sterling is our best option. Our best option would be to change tack to try and fit the strikers we have. Mario has been shitte but he's no lone striker and would do better with a partner and the odd cross into the box. And again, why not try Lambert as a plan b and mix things up a bit? That's what he was bought for was it not?

Rodgers just has one way of doing things and sticks to it regardless of whether it's working or not. He changed things when he went three at the back so has proved he can do it when he wants.

And why didn't Rodgers use any of the 3 forwards he signed, ie, Borini, Lambert and Balotelli? Are we a one player team after he spent more than 200m?
Because they're all shyte strikers, which doesn't make him any better, of course.

His not playing a striker has really p!ssed me off! They might not be the best around but at least they're strikers. Plus, if we'd gone 2 up with Borini and Lambert/Mario, I think that could have been a good combination. Maybe not good enough for top 4 this season still but we'll never know now.

Why play 1 sh1t striker when you can play 2? Not an option if you ask me. It would mean reducing our midfield and making us even more vulnerable.
I'm sure various combinations have been tried in training. At this moment in time i believe that sterling (sadly) is our best striker.......but that simply opens up another conversation.

He isn't a striker to be a striker you have to be able to finish, he has no composure in front of goal.

Plus if BR is doing this to convince him to stay then he is a complete tool

Why risk results when we could haven chased man utd hard to please one player, they would make him a very weak manager

None of them are shitte. Just been used badly. Didn't Lambert get double figures last season as did Borini? Mario is never a lone striker but he was used as one and expected to play like a Suarez or Sturridge type which isn't his game.

As others have said, Sterling is never a striker. He's terrible at finishing, not strong enough, lacks any kind of aerial threat. You could question why the fukk he was picked over some of the others to play there?

When you take into account Sterling's form as well which is atrocious you have to wonder why he is in the first team anyway?

Sterling is in the team for the same reason that he was given a holiday back in January to Jamaica.

If you cannot work out that answer by yourself, well educational standards are definitely dropping in the UK.

Worst season, No. Frustrating season, Yes.

Can't use the excuse of not having money as we have spent millions over past few years.

I find it frustrating that with all the millions spent, we play players out of position for a starters.

We need to be a whole lot smarter with transfer funds and team set up.

I think Rodgers will be given one more year but really needs to get the team playing quickly or can't see him lasting till Christmas.

Signing Balotelli - A statement of desperation, a statement of intent, we are not prepared to be a big club. A squad that was positive ,quick and looked happy and u throw a lazy, egotistic idiot amongst it. Disgraceful .

BR - he believed his own hype.I do think getting a new bird ,new teeth etc ,points to character flaw.

BR's tactics. Found wanting in europe and against the big boys.

Terrible Transfers. Over 100m spent and could argue not one penny of it spent well. Does liverpool not have the infrastructure in place to sign players that are in demand. Considering we end up paying huge money for players that we are the only ones in for ,then the answer must be yes.

Sturridge being a sick note. Just can't rely on him, even last year he had his problems.

Solutions? Don't see any. We blew it, I think next season will just be one long rope given to BR . There are just too many weak links. We don't have fullbacks left or right, keeper is flabby and weak minded, centre halves not working at all, poor central midfield, we don't know if we play with wingers or am or wingbacks and we have nobody upfront.
plus we have loads of dross on big wages that we won't be able to shift. BR won't be sacked, but FSG won't spend the money required. stalemate . i pity the likes of ings and milner as they gonna get slaughtered next season . don't come here

Rodgers' first season was worse but this season must be one of the most disappointing maybe with Rafa's last season.
