Obviously we have had poorer seasons, poorer results and poorer league standing but from the perspective of where we started this season I believe this could be the worst ever season. BR & FSG had a massive chance to cement us as a permanent challenger again.
What went wrong?
Signing Balotelli - A statement of desperation, a statement of intent, we are not prepared to be a big club. A squad that was positive ,quick and looked happy and u throw a lazy, egotistic idiot amongst it. Disgraceful .
BR - he believed his own hype.I do think getting a new bird ,new teeth etc ,points to character flaw.
BR's tactics. Found wanting in europe and against the big boys.
Terrible Transfers. Over 100m spent and could argue not one penny of it spent well. Does liverpool not have the infrastructure in place to sign players that are in demand. Considering we end up paying huge money for players that we are the only ones in for ,then the answer must be yes.
Sturridge being a sick note. Just can't rely on him, even last year he had his problems.
Solutions? Don't see any. We blew it, I think next season will just be one long rope given to BR . There are just too many weak links. We don't have fullbacks left or right, keeper is flabby and weak minded, centre halves not working at all, poor central midfield, we don't know if we play with wingers or am or wingbacks and we have nobody upfront. plus we have loads of dross on big wages that we won't be able to shift. BR won't be sacked, but FSG won't spend the money required. stalemate . i pity the likes of ings and milner as they gonna get slaughtered next season . don't come here
It's not the worst season ever but it is the biggest failure of a season ever. Like you say, at the point in time when last season ended (and I include that we knew we were going to have to sell Suarez) with everything that we could and very much should as a minimum achieved had the right man been picking our signings, it is the biggest failure of a season in the premier league era.

Let's get one thing clear this is not going to get better as things stand I agree with emp based on where we started this season this is the worst I can ever recall under any previous manager but not all the blame must go to rodgers it was a joint effort of his poor judgement and the policies of the disastrous owners we have. The club needs rebuilding from top to bottom and it will take many years

Far from the worst season ever but a very disappointing one. Those who thought we could challenge for the title were very wrong and I never thought we would but we should've got top 4 for sure.
A bad transfer window in the summer, no signings in January and players seemingly not wanting to play for anything. Sterling being a can't to top it off!
All we can do is hope that FSG wake the fukk up and get this mess sorted and sharpish!

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Out of interest, what could FSG do to improve things next year? I'm not sure they deserve all the schtick that they receive.

The mistakes and the damage is already done on the journey we are on now there is nothing that can improve us other than them selling up and us getting owners with commitment and resources but I am told no such people exist in the world that being so this club is finished as a top player in the premiershio

Excellent post EMP very near the mark.
This is how I see this mess:
Option 1
We have to overpay now for 3 WC players at least and the salaries to match and hope we can stem the rot.
Problem is there are very few who would even want to take the chance on joining. Agents do their homework with top players and a blind bat can see the mess we are in.
The sums involved will see FSG having to loan the club money and personal fortunes have not been touched up to now so very unlikely to happen. In fact it won't.
Option 2
We manage to sign 1 semi-marquee player and a mix mash of a rest of a team in the weakest areas. We are still short next season and it unravels with a small squad because we failed to replace the huge number that will be shown the door in the summer. Th newbies will start just as with this as they learn the managers system and the game of fellow pros. Spin goes on overdrive but the fans finally revolt with BR shown the door and no-one of the quality needed now available mid season.
Option 3
Klopp is recruited, the committee 'adjusted' and he is given a decent transfer budget with an emphasis still on rough gems. However he has more leeway on signings and because he knows the less expensive German league so well and because of his standing in the game, we manage to get a very decent number of shrewd buys that whilst not making us world beaters overnight put us on the road to climb the ladder in the coming seasons.
It will be tough, but having a WC manager who understands the mentality needed to win a championship and grace the upper echelons of European competition greatly improves our chances of succeeding.
Whatever happens there are no easy solutions to this shambles and FSG and LFC personnel, have ruined the club for the foreseeable future.

German players are only less expensive if you're a german team. The EPL is very rich so english clubs get ripped off anyway.
