So we not really a selling club as Arsenal have sold more prize players then we have and even to arch rivals. Not many players leave Liverpool and do better. I can only count a few on one hand.

How many player have we sold for a profit other than Suarez?

The player wants to stay at the club and the agent is trying to get the best deal for him and the club is trying to get the best deal for Liverpool. This is nothing new and goes on all the time.

Chill guys all will be sorted soon and please stop the negativity.

Plenty of our first choice players have left for a profit in recent years.

Alonso, Mascherano, Arbeloa, Torres, Suarez are the most obvious ones.

Didn't they all leave before FSG came in though?

Yes, but I was making a point that we have sold plenty of top, first team players for profit.

As for the Arsenal argument they still consistently get Champions League football and won the FA Cup last season despite selling players so I don't really understand the argument.

Borini & Toure should have gone in summer, for a profit.

I actually agree with this, at those wages I see a very large release clause being placed, he seems to like Rodgers and the club, he's a main man here, but quite frankly isn't THAT good yet. No one definitively bigger than us will pay crazy money for him and he wouldn't be a star in their teams either.

Don't get me wrong I think we need to keep him, he's very good for his age, but if we take the weekend as an example, a top player would have been in those positions and created something, he's not there yet. So i think we have a good chance of keeping him.

Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Miereles, just to name a few. All sold for profit. We are no longer a top club so we will continue to sell our best players for profit. My gut feeling tells me Sterling is gone in the summer and him signing a new contract will confirm that.

You make it sound like FSG cashed in on these players, when they themselves wanted to leave... I still don't see where this "FSG only buy players to make money" thing comes from??? To me it seems they are trying to buy young talents and turn them into star players in order to avoid the big transfer fees you would have to pay for them in their prime...

Not saying I agree with it entirely, but it certainly helps to have an even mix of both.

Was anyone actually dissappointed Miereles left???

He was a decent player, but we hardly missed him & I don't remember there being an outcry when he left confused The one thing that sticks out in my mind about him leaving was the timing... if I'm not mistaken he actually started the season with us and left on deadline day.
