Chelsea had a better first 11 and squad for sure, the rebuilding process wasn't as big as ours continues to be sure. But why are people criticizing Mourinho? He continues to succeed everywhere he goes. Many managers have had the resources and teams even better than he's had, yet have failed far short of his accomplishments. He's a tremendous manager. He's not a legacy builder, but he's one of the world's best ever managers. I'm not criticizing him. I'm only saying that his situation was completely different. Most managers that do the actual rebuilding of a falling giant end up getting the axe, unless the club is very patient. Mourinho has done excellently at managing expectations last season, setting his targets this season, and getting results. Chelsea are a well oiled machine, and he's doing a good job driving it. He just didn't build it.

I could never consider Maureen as any where near one of the greatest until he builds something. Pretty much all he has done has been done with ready made side's. The only thing he really deserves a lot of credit for was getting a champions league win for Porto.
He's a top manager and I can't deny that but he is far from 'the special one'.

So,
was just interested in what your guys opinion is on the kid now? He is still young but has shown in the past few games what he brings to the game and what his strengths are. When he first started for us, people said he was rubbish and not worth his fee. Was just wondering whether opinions have changed?
Do you think we overpaid for him or do you think he has shown why he is so highly regarded? Personally, I think he could take the league by storm next season once he has a few more games under his belt and learns to be a bit more agressive in his approach.
Your thoughts? He's got the potential to be our new Aqulani.

He's a top manager and I can't deny that but he is far from 'the special one'. They had won 4 or 5 European trophies before he arrived so he wasn't exactly creating history. I think Mourinho is a very good manager but not as great as he seems to think. With pots of cash or an inherited team of stars he does very well (who wouldn't). Although his spell at Real was nothing short of a disaster, relatively speaking. When he surpasses Vialli's, Benitez's or Di Matteo's European trophy record for Chelsea we can maybe discuss this again!! :-)

Unpopular truth: Ancelotti is a better manager than he is.

I still think Chelsea were fools to sack him. The Torres stunt Abramovic pulled and the chopping and changing they did nearly cost them dearly.

Yep he's a real manager. Torres was signed for him as he was Romans sons favourite player. He had stated early in the window what he needed and it wasn't Torres.

You can say that about Mou, ready made side and all that, but the people he replaced didn't do it with those sides. Mourinho did. His accomplishments are nigh on unparalleled. Building a dynasty might be a personal preference for you and some others, and if that's the case fair enough no he hasn't done that. But his achievements are utterly incredible. To get clubs doing what he gets them to do is extraordinary, the number of records he's broken in several different countries is astonishing. Plenty of top managers have had those opportunities, but he's the one who did it.
