Just depends how or when/if BR plays him.

Of course they can, Fergie has always sold his best players (Ronaldo, Beckham, Ruud VN, etc) and used the money wisely to buy cheaper players. Wenger has done even more than that, though he only qualifies for CL, something we are dreaming of right now. By the way, Jose has spent less than BR since he arrived. Every club has constraints under FFP now.

Do you think we overpaid for him or do you think he has shown why he is so highly regarded? Personally, I think he could take the league by storm next season once he has a few more games under his belt and learns to be a bit more agressive in his approach.

Your thoughts?

My opinion hasn't changed of him from before we bought him. Definitely overpaid, has some potential but unlikely to reach the heights of some people like yourself had suggested he might. He did impress me against arsenal, and is fast and has some technical ability, but I believe he will be the type of player that might have one game where he is incredible, but most games he will be average.

His pace is an important factor though for the general team. Pinning the Arsenal defence back in a deep position for fear him and Sterling (sturridge soon hopefully as well) running in behind allows our technically gifted players such as Gerrard, Coutinho, and Lallana (lol) to have more time and space to create.

In short I wouldn't have bought him at that price, I personally don't think he will be taking anything by storm in this league, but would absolutely play him as he makes the shape and strategy of our team better than Lallana or Allen or the others he is likely to take a spot from.

hahaha you are deluded...

Fergie is an isolated case.. No manager will come a long like him again and sustain success for 20 years. He has had the best nucleus to a squad the BPL has seen. Giggs, scholes, Vidic, Ferdinand, Rooney etc... When you have 5-6 world class players every season it doesn't matter selling players

Wenger? Do you know what your talking about? for the past 2/3 years he has had full control and 300 mil sitting in the bank. no constraints.

Mourinho LOOOOOL... Look at the players he had before he arrived. Hazard, Oscar, courtious, terry, Cahill,

We have no world class players in our team other than Sturridge who is injured.

No, Di Matteo and AVB did. And they capitulated for a while. They had an aging squad that needed bucking up, and when AVB tried to rebuild it, they fell apart. If Di Matteo hadn't pulled one out of the hat in the Champion's League, they wouldn't have qualified that year. They were still relying on players like Drogba, Kallou, Mikel, etc. By the time Jose got there, they had already been mostly rebuilt with Oscar, Hazard, Cahil, Azpilliqueta, and so forth to bolster the starting 11 and plenty of young talent like Schurle and the ilk to fill in when needed and plenty more talent on loan (Courtoise, Lukaku, etc.). Their spine had been rebuilt, and they had two scapegoats to axe while they bedded in, and Rafa had steadied the ship and got them solid, stable, and winning again.

Jose didn't do much crucial business in the window last year except maybe buy other people's targets (Has Salah even played a match?). Matic was the only major signing he made last year, though Wilian is a good player, he isn't exactly crucial to the way they play. All he had to do this year was bring in the two missing pieces: Fabregas and Costa. When they had luxury players like Mata (granted in the previous window) and Luiz to sell, funding it wasn't that difficult.

That's what I was getting at in regards to vish pointing out that his man love Maureen spent less than us. He didn't need to because of what was already there when he got there.

Chelsea had a better first 11 and squad for sure, the rebuilding process wasn't as big as ours continues to be sure. But why are people criticizing Mourinho? He continues to succeed everywhere he goes. Many managers have had the resources and teams even better than he's had, yet have failed far short of his accomplishments. He's a tremendous manager. He's not a legacy builder, but he's one of the world's best ever managers.

End of the day its all about results, you can point out what you like and show stat after stat but the only one that counts is winning and Mourinho is good at that.
