This is why I was in favour of taking the high risk with Mario when it became obvious that we wouldn't sign a quality replacement for Suarez. With Sturridge you can always expect injuries.
The burning question now is: will we sign a top quality striker in January? Well first of all it's not the best time to be doing it, we should have done it in the summer, but preferred to arse around with cheapie's. Secondly with FSG I doubt if we'll ever pay the required transfer fee or the wages to secure a top quality striker. The only reason we signed even Mario was because he was going for half price and half wages in other words a high risk bargain basement signing. This carry on is quite simply unacceptable given that we're back in the CL after a five year lapse, you cannot compete in the CL or indeed the PL without a reasonable number of top quality players in your starting eleven and good to top quality on your bench, and we don't have that, I'm beginning to wonder if we ever will again.
