Wilki, it doesn't need to make us lose all season to derail the season, it just takes a morale hit over the next 3 or 4 games and we could be well behind. Look at utd last season, I firmly believe if they got a couple of lucky wins instead of losses at the beginning, they wouldn't have had a season anywhere near what they did. (Edit: this is to a previous post, I happen to agree with you that we should beat spurs on Sunday.)
With regards to the game against city, no we weren't as bad as a 3-1 suggests but anyone who says we deserved a draw does not have an appreciation of top level football in the slightest. The way the best teams beat the teams, on days they aren't their best, beat the teams below them in the manner city did us, is by turning it up and on in bursts. City did exactly that. Were very casual and nothing special but turned it up occasionally and that led to them scoring cause we don't know how to defend. They could have had 2 more goals and definitely should have had one more goal. Contrast that to us who had half chances, one real should have scored opportunity and were fortunate with an own goal. It's ludicrous to suggest we deserved a goal. City did exactly what top teams do. You don't need to play at your best for 90 minutes, just bursts. We were outclassed by a better side.

It's just the general gist of your posts. I'm far from convinced we'll beat them. I'm not sure what way it'll go. We are a much bigger test than they've had so far though even when we're not at our best. Hopefully Balotelli will play as I'm sure he'll want to prove to us and every body else what he can do. There is no reason we shouldn't beat them unless we are unlucky like bad officials' decisions and hitting the post. We won 5 nil last year and they have a new manager. If we don't I will be very worried.

They were in a terrible mess. You cannot compare Spurs last year with what they are today.
The new manager is more of a plus than a negative. They have great players, they just needed a proper manager - which they now have. This will be a tough game and the 5-0 drubbing we gave them last year was distorted by a sending off.
I hope we do win. If we win well it'll be great, if we win at all, I'll be well happy.
Vish, I don't see how you can be so forthright in your condemnation of people that fear the worst. My worry is that we'll have a 'post Suarez season' like their 'post Bale season'.
A lot depends on the extent to which MB links up successfully with DS. Hope they both start. On the evidence I've seen, we'll need the firepower of two upfront.

I don't think anyone is going to deny that it's a big game and a big opportunity. I'll be very disappointed if we lose, but if we do it's not the end of the season. When the Liverbird meets the Cockerel, What is there like to be; Will it be a fight, or love on sight, In White Hart Lane to see? Will talon and claw decide the draw, As some might well expect; Or the Cockerel woo and Liverbird coo, and the both of them be fecked! Being a Liverbird I can assure you it wont be the latter. Great work Herc! Ha, ha, I'm quite sure it won't be the latter Lain, I was just messing! I'm kinda confident we'll edge it...regardless of whether it's a love in or an almighty scrap!!

Well regardless, it's a big opportunity with City losing today. If we win the way we did last year, we could go as high as 2nd.

Only way is to avoid all media stan!
Good chance for us but as I've said all along, if we don't win it's not the end of it. Who'd have thought City would loose to Stoke and it just shows that all the top teams will slip up at some point.

Good idea not to go onto a football forum if you don't want to know a football score.
