The reports for the past couple of seasons about Ibe were that he had better game intelligence than Sterling, but that he needed to work on a couple of parts of his game. One, which still appears to be a problem, is his composure when he is in on goal. I think the other was he could be a little wasteful at times, trying his luck from too far out.
I think he is a very gifted player. A few still talk about the incredible impression he had on them, in terms of the coaching staff when he was first signed from Wycombe. The question for me, is whether playing games is going to suit his development more than staying with our staff? Game-time is all well and good, but if its the wrong team, or a very different style of play, he might be suited working on those weaknesses in the club, playing regularly for the reserves and getting chances in the cups, which I'd be more than happy letting him play in.
I'm not saying I have a real prefernece, so long as wherever he is, he has decent coaches willing to improve his composure in front of goal. Once he has that, he'll be ready to push to play a lot more. If we hadn't challenged for the title last year, I reckon he'd be much closer to our first XI. A victim of our success it seems as it stands.
