I am pretty sure the point of the committee is to decide on just those things... who to target? which positions are to be improved? which players on the market represent good/great value? what is their value to the club and what would we be willing to pay..?
Take our left back options... Do you really think we'd give up on signing a first-choice left back for near £20m, to go for a £10m lesser option, or an £8m third choice... Maybe we are that bad at dealings, but I think it is safer to think about the benefit of trading in our lesser Enrique, for signing a young left back and a first-choice starter. As I said, BR probably doesn't have final say on the price of purchases but will have the final say on the player who would come or not. The committee will be responsible to put a value on the player BR wants, they play the role of a Director of Sports like Comolli.

Sunderland are definitely not being ripped off. You're talking about an Italian international on the back of a good loan spell in which he more than impressed. He is incredibly young, has adapted to their style of play already, and has proven to score goals for them. Just because we could sign a better player for less, doesn't mean he is over-valued... I'd say at £14m, he is valued about right. Putting release clauses into contracts make things more complicated, but Bony is arguably worth more than £20. I don't reckon Remy is better, but he is certainly better suited to our current style of play than Borini, especially in terms of leading the line alone... At £8m, he is priced about right too I think. Remy has much lower potential, but maybe we can sacrifice that at times for bringing in a couple of million that might help conclude business now... If it was a case of Davies and Borini or Remy and Moreno, I know which two I'd take. Borini at 14m is great business, just check how happy Dunk is on U tube.

Bloody sick of it tbh.
