Maybe Wakka and yes I agree 100% with his coaching and player management skills however this 'collective group' that appear to be influencing transfer policy haven't set the world alight either have they. In fact most of the players we have complained about being flops appear to have their stamp on them.

This is true, I suppose with big signings on the horizon the finger of blame will be pointed at someone if they dont work out, then we will know.

As long as the finger gets pointed at the transfer board and not Rodgers.

I never understood clubs have boards or other individuals to purchase players. It should be the manager therefore if the player flops it lies on the manager. Only thing that makes sense would be having someone the manager puts his transfer case to for them to agree or not.

Depends on the owners, some especially American ones are used to that system and reluctant to trust one man with it all.

There's no way in the world that I believe Rodgers wanted to keep Borini and the club sold him anyway. Total made up [oops] stirring scum bag press. Rodgers has said many times he has the final say in all transfer dealings. Most people thought he would sell Aspas and Borini this summer and he has.

Amazing deals.

I hope Borini goes on to be a success but Sunderland have a poor goalscoring record and he will have to work hard for goals there. The fans love him there and that will be a help. I don't think he would ever have been a 20 goal a season striker for us but in a summer of inflated prices I think we are getting a very good deal here.

The Sunderland management must love the guy to pay that much for him. Wishing him all success there except in games against us of course.

Indeed, BR said that he has final say on transfer dealings, there is no reason why not to believe him. That said, I don't think he has final say on price of purchases, nobody has, unless he is allocated a budget and he does what he wants to do.

I am pretty sure the point of the committee is to decide on just those things... who to target? which positions are to be improved? which players on the market represent good/great value? what is their value to the club and what would we be willing to pay..?

Take our left back options... Do you really think we'd give up on signing a first-choice left back for near £20m, to go for a £10m lesser option, or an £8m third choice... Maybe we are that bad at dealings, but I think it is safer to think about the benefit of trading in our lesser Enrique, for signing a young left back and a first-choice starter.
