vish i am sorry i didnt mean much by it. just to clear what i was saying politcians deflect questions or chanellege arguements in such ways that it gets ppl to change subjects. your reply about the game just reminded me of that. go ahead n take a look at pg5 then look at the title n tell me its in the right thread.

yea i prob watch to much politics.

anyway if football was about just scoring goals playing with 11 strikers would not be a very good strategy. wow this is contagious.

The only person that suggested 11 striker was you vish.

That you don't believe the object of football is about scoring goals is completely irrelevant to the thread. I don't need to explain to you why we have defenders, midfielders, goalkeepers or strikers, and vice versa. Nor should we need to debate the impact of all these players.

Scoring goals is the only guarantee to success in football, and the only factor that influences the scoreline. You did just want to deflect the argument for your own ulterior motive. I am glad others see that.

You say we have the 5th or 6th best squad, and I do agree. I think our squad is the 6th best right now. I generally consider the better squads to be those where more of the 25 man squad is made up of good PL players. At the moment, not having a creative centre-midfielder, a leading centre-half and a right winger are the key difference in 1st choice positions. We are still missing a number of competitive members to add to that squad, like direct competition for Lucas, Enrique and Reina, and they are restricted because of our lack of CL football money, and highly paid squad players, like Carroll, Henderson and Downing; ironically, mistakes of our last manager, Comolli, and the still remaining Ayre. Hopefully, the movements in January that bore fruit in the transfer window, continue to deliver BR with talent, and BR can remedy the mistakes at the back. I think 3rd is the best we can hope for, and that 5th is realistic next year, even if I am hoping for 4th. With a perfect transfer window, and quick settling period, I think 4th is there for the taking.

If you go to page 2 you will see that I had already commented on the title of the thread, the page 5 comment was one one particular fundamental point on a post, basically, whether we play to win or to score goals and as we all know, you cannot win only by scoring goals but also by preventing goals scored against you.

One of the main lackings of BR game to me has been our defensive system, not defenders particularly, but the system, we play a high possession game in a quite advanced position which is a very difficult system to win matches, you need highly technical players which is always in shortage and your defence is vulnerable on the counter. Even Barca finds it much harder to score when Messi is not playing and they concede a lot. In my opinion, a Real Madrid / United system of more direct football is easier to put in place than Barca's.

If we do this, every bloody pundit should be saying, or reminded, that this man won the league WITHOUT buying it !

The only other manager in my opinion who did this was wenger. I think the man ( BR) deserves his own flag on the kop for such an achievement, and I have not heard any pundit on any show acknowledge thus.

It will be a phenomenal achievement if he does it, and all us fans of LFC should make it our business to work that fact into every conversation we have about this season.

Lucky that I missed this thread.
A little bit shocked at how fast people jumped on his back.

Considering, you could tell from the outset what he was trying to do. And it was positive steps forward from the start.
