I haven't twisted any words maxi Why not have three quality strikers or are you saying when we rest Suarez a borini or aspas type player comes in! that won't get us far in CL or cup games will it ? Do we want to be in cup / CL games to make the numbers up or be in with a chance of winning it ? I never mentioned CL games but you decided that I had hence twisting me mentioning cup games into meaning all non league games

So we have a decent back up for when they need resting but the idea of rotating for rotatings sake makes no sense.
Buying the likes of Remy and a winger gives us plenty of options up front where we generally play 1 through the middle and 2 out wide.
[size:11pt]Suarez, Sturride, Remy and Borini up front [/size] Sterling, Coutinho, Suso, Konoplyanka out wide as well as having the option of playing the front men out wide as well seems like a decent front four to me. would love to get remy

So hard to attract the sort of player we need. It's about how we progress. Players like Etoo Ba Torres Soldado Dzeko Jovetic have all signed on with promises of massive wages. I think we were hedging our bets a bit trying to find a player who can play anywhere in the front line on the cheap. That's why we ended up with Aspas who looks like he is not up to this level.
To be fair to him though our forward line has progressed to a level far beyond the one he could ever reach. And I doubt there is a player anywhere that you could buy for £7m that could get near that level. He was also bought at a time when there was doubt over Suarez staying. I am pretty sure he will be sold back to a mid table Spanish club for £5m in the summer with Borini coming back.
Not sure about his record at Sunderland. A couple of the goals there have been pens but people seem to rate him. What we need him to be is someone like Hernandez who can make an impact from the bench or who can start the games when perhaps the first choice pairing are not 100% fit.
Overall I still think Borini represents a better option than trying to fit a player in who has no PL experience or has to be paid a kings ransom to sit on the bench.

It'll be difficult to sign a proven striker to sit on the bench though, wouldn't it? We’ve had some supersubs in the past though red, so whats so different now? And dont’t some of top european clubs have three decent strikers? Anyway if we qualify for CL we’ll need to rotate, so while I see your point, I don’t fully buy in to that argument tbh.

I think we should bring Borini back, offload Aspas and buy instead a proven goal scorer as back up for SAS. Someone like Remy would do a good job, but for me its Lukaku all the way.

is that too much? that what will be the going rate if not a few more millions. dont forget his only 21(ish). his got bags of talent and will be a beast of a player in a few years. i would love him here but he cant play anywhere else apart from the CF role. would love to have him so we can change the way we play if need be

He will definitely give us another option in attack, but at 25m he'd be way overpriced imo.
