Ayre was not involved in this and that is not the problem, the club didn't offer enough money to Anzhi, ditto.
Now the real question is why are the club briefing the papers on how they are 'confident' on a deal being done when they know they haven't offered anywhere near what Spurs offered, this was the same with Costa 'confident', Mkhitaryan 'confident' in my opinion they are trying to appease fans that we are looking for major targets but in reality unwilling to pay for them.
Ah good morning wakka had a good sleep?

It's not that FSG can't sign marquee players... they just won't if they go over their evaluation. I think signing then selling Carroll, Downing, et al has damaged their collective psyche. They had a ceiling for Willian, Spurs went over it and they conceded defeat. The trouble is - the same thing will probably happen with any big player with demand. I hope we go and sign Ada Turan instead... but someone will probably outbid us there too. I think there is some truth in the argument tat FSG are quite happy as we are now. As fans we want success they want return the two are not necessarily in corralation. It's risk and return to them yes of course they want to win things but not if it exceeds some financial algorithm

As in like every business that runs in the world, there is a realism to their ambitions and what can be achieved, rather than risking all to potentially go under?!
How well do you know FSG? Because I sure did a lot of research this last year, and happy they certainly are not! They see the progress on and off the field much better than most fans on here do, and feel we are slowly on track... But to suggest this is it, is ludicrous.

Interesting, now that all of our rivals have beaten us to our CAM targets, it looks like we will have less competition if we decide to go foe Erikson lol.
