[quote=AussieRed]I agree with Marko here. The guy finished the goal well and I think he needs time. He's been injured for most of the season but when he has played, his movement has been good. If you look at Hendersons second goal, if I'm not wrong it was Borini who almost got his head to the ball and distracted the keeper enough for the ball to end up in the back of the net!
There's far too much emphasis put on the transfer fee of the player (which i might add is agreed to by the teams and not the player himself) when people decide to write them off!
Give the guy a chance I say! Is that really the kind of criteria we are judging our players on?! Well I do believe that POSITIONING is one of the key criteria scouts and managers look at when observing players. It is also something they work on extensively in training, hence positioning must be a very important factor. Even more so for a poacher. SO yes, I believe postioning is a very important criteria when judging players. We could buy Falcao but what use would he be if he was constantly standing next to Reina...see what I mean..Positiong isn't just about being in the box, but about where in the box and when.. We could simplify every situation to the point where it becomes absurd discussing if you really want to. [/quote To be honest Marko i think under BR technical players are more important than players with good positioning, with a striker like Borini you need to make sure he has good positioning but also his off the ball, finishing and composure are alot more important given he's a striker. Our wingers and forwards also interchange alot more which is more technical than positioning from a training perpective suprisingly but positioning is hardly worked hard on in training apart from on the likes of Shelvey who's positioning is completely off

As far as technical ability is concerned, yes it is very important but the thing is, Borini is a good technical player too. However I would not say it's his main trait. Different aspects are looked at for different players, if you are looking for a poacher, their positioning and finishing will be the most important criteria. I believe this is where Borini will excel. We have interchangeable wings and strikers and I think we'll see Borini playing as a striker or just off the striker more and more in the future.

I never once claimed he should be given a new contract. Look at the title of the thread and OP. Try reading and thinking before you comment. I certainly dont call for players ti be given contracts based on a handful of games. I do remember you asking for Doyle to be given a contract though....

Yes its worked on but for the same amount of time or less as technical aspects are as we play the passing style keeping the ball involves good technical skill as it does positioning both are just important, yeah but in a poacher or striker their off the ball play is almost more important than anything especially as a poacher when u have to nick in behind, yeah maybe so i hope he doesn't play on the wing much as i dont think he's impressed there when he was fit earlier in the season plus he was bought as a striker (i hope), still not a first team player though and i'd like to see another forward player come in during the summer along with a defender and holding midfielder, would like Downing, Assaidi and Carrol to be sold and bring in 3 or 4 players.

Time, time, time I never thought I would begin to hate that fooking word! Of course if you give someone time and training they will improve, but how much time would you wait? Considering in that TIME, Manu probably would have signed Falcao or Lewandowski or both! Can you see where I'm going with this. Firstly, man u will not be signing Falcao. Secondly, how much time has Borini actually had? How many games has he played? Is it fair to write him off after 10 games or so? You tell me, I don't demand instant success from new players, I do demand success, but it doesn't have to be instant. what ever mate, sure your not on the FSG pay role? Your constant positivity with the current situation is disturbing?

Trust me, if I was, I'd be spending my money right now instead of chatting on the net.
I opened a thread today for you guys who disagree with me and think it's all black and horrid...Sorry, I noticed the guy had a quality finish the other day and thought it was worth noting.
