Really sad comments IMO. The guy hasn't even had a decent run of games and already you are all calling for his head. He could do an important job for us with 10-15 goals next season coming off the bench if he avoids injury.
Try and think back to what was said about Lucas...and not only Lucas. Too many players have been discarded based on a poor or injury plagued first season. Agree 100%. It's a shame people are so pessimistic. Being realistic is one thing, but to say someone should be sold/sacked after only a short time (In Borini's case, literally a handful of games) to show their worth is really unfair. We are a great club, who once upon a time dominated the game, but unfortunately we’re not at that level any more. We are going to have to rely on players like Borini to help us get back to a level where we can afford and attract top players. He scored a real poachers goal on Saturday that could quite easily have been missed or saved if he was rubbish. He had 1 second to react and shoot, which he did, and scored. Everyone was saying Suarez couldn't hit a barn door last season, and he couldn't, but look at him now. Give him time and he will be a great asset to us.

Hi,
I just wanted to discuss Borini's goal against Newcastle. In a situation where most players would have opted to have a shot with their left foot Borini thought quickly and adjusted his body shape an position and shot with his right past the keeper.
I believe he showed what Rodgers sees in him. He thinks quick and adjusts easily. It could prove a great asset in the future. I think this goal will really help with his confidence and seeing what he did at Roma I think he could become a very useful player. Didn't he score in one of his first games with us in the Europa league? He was quite useless after that. Better to wait and see before that I jump to conclusions.

Yeah, I can't remember if it was Europa or just a pre season friendly though. I agree about jumping to conclusions. There are 2 things that made me write that OP though. Firstly, even before the Newcastle game, although he only played a handful of games, his positioning and awareness were impressive. He isn't a very flamboyant player but he makes a nuisance of his presence just like Kuyt does and used to. Secondly and more importantly, it was the manner in which he scored against Newcastle. He only had a split second to decide what to do, yet he managed to look up and shoot accurately with his right into the corner even though he coul have shot with his left. Had he shot with his left, the shot probably would have been blocked, it was te element of surprise, that he shot with his right that made that goal happen. Well at least in my opinion. That's a real trait of proper goal poachers, that ability to think in milliseconds, adjust the body shape, and fire it home. That along with his positioning know how could make him the poacher we have been searching for for so long. I'm not saying he will set Anfield alight, but from what he has shown so far, I think he could prove very handy indeed especially against those stubborn defended or goalies having the games of their life against us. He could be the one to knock it in off the rebound. I think he could prove a handful and would like to hang onto him an see him get a run of games. Take a look on YouTube for a replay of his goal, the way he looks up and adjusts before slotting it home. Real poachers effort.

lol you'd swear he scored a maradona goal or something..fella is worth 11m and probably paid 50g a week..for which he should be able to kick a ball into a goal from 6 yards out in a game that is already over.

His movement is really good. He's got a goot football brain. I'd be happy to see him develop into a tool to use off the bench, our answer to Hernandez.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Not at all, Maradona was a goalscorer but he was no poacher. Also scoring a 5th or 6th is often harder than the 1st 2....

I think he did that because he is not confident enough on his left foot as any player would when they return from a long injury spell. I am not going to make any hasty conclusions yet.

Well I'm all for giving any player a fair chance therefore my jury's still out on Master Borini, Marko could be right on this and I hope he is, only time and more games will tell us if we've got a poacher or not. I hope we have because with the Suarez situation we really need a break. Anyway regardless, I hope we sign a top quality PL ready striker in the summer.
