Nevertheless the unions had far too much power. Something needed to be done. But not the other extreme.

Fair comment

i don't celebrate the death of another human being. some of the scenes on the news have been a bit tasteless. i was happy enough once she lost power and sunk into oblivion where her attitudes and policies belong and belonged. her death, to me, is pretty inconsequential. i feel sorry for her friends and loved ones though.

i don't believe 1 mins silence should be held for her. it's not a general standard that has happened for other former PMs. by making the choice to do it for her and not others, does it not belittle their contribution and aggrandise her? is that not like a club taking a political stance?

Agree with your post but I would hardly say her policies are in oblivion they are now adopted by all parties including the labour government.

Very dramatic and without a shred of evidence to support such a ridiculous comment.

Thatcher was widely credited with helping to end the Cold War and had a very good relationship with Gorbachev in fact he would have attended her funeral except he was too ill. But his wife did. She brokered the deal between him and Reagan which effectively ended the Cold War. The walk in the woods in Iceland. Shaggy read up on it.

Faz re your assertion that mrs thatcher covered up hillsborough despite their being no evidence in the independent report but you know from your mates mate etc etc.

Did you watch question time last night ?

A guy from the audience said mrs thatcher did all sorts of horrible things including covering up hillsborough. Michael Howard was on the panel you know Michael Howard and all he has done for the justice campaign and a lifelong Liverpool fan?

He rounded on the guy and put him right and the guy did not respond. Essentially Howard said had mrs thatcher known the extent of the cover up she would have been horrified. Reading her biographies that too is my impression whatever you think of her polices she was an extremely principalled person

Hillsborough happened at the end of her premiership and she did what any prime minister would do trust the police and the authorities we now know with hindsight how misplaced that was and with other things like jimmy Saville.

"The Irish are all liars" (witch)

why not the scousers?

Your argument dépends on believing someone is of 'good character', and 'principled'. it is nonsense.

As for the cold war you , don't think the Soviet economy imploded from within ? The politicians are there to put the human face on economic developments. In the same way you cannot say that the peace process in northern Ireland is down to John Major or just, hume, or just mcguinnes, or just one person. There were many other structural reasons for the end of cold war as well as the end of the troubles. The guys that shake hands are there for the photo opportunity, only daily mail readers believe that margaret thatcher ended the cold war

Walk in the park? Isn' that what Dr David Kelly did ?

So heseltine 'rounded on the guy' and got him to shut up, ahaha we can all go home now thats case solved....
Thatcher was not driven by principle but by hatred of the working class. She bossed her cabinet but shut her cakehole whenn the American economists were telling her what to do.
