Last summer we where jumping up and down at the fact our targets where heading to other clubs for more money.
We refused to pay over the odds, and I think that decision has turned out to have been the right one.
Dempsey, siggy and Ramirez have all turned out to be very average this season- yes they would have been worth a punt on the cheap- but not at a high cost.
So what do you think, upon reflection, to the way we handled ourselves last season in the market?
Last summer's transfer window was a complete flop, there was no bloody need for us to spend the bigger share of our available funds to sign a central midfield player, the priority was not there. Our priority was a striker and we ended up with one less (AC is better than nothing especially as we just loaned him out). I don't know who was responsible and I can only hope that this happened because the manager was new and was trying to understand his needs. I cannot imagine that this window can be worse, unless of course we are fighting administration. Rodger was 100% responsible for that farce. He was determined to get rid of Carroll from day one, and that's fine. There's no point in anyone blaming things of FSG for what happened on the last day of the summer window - if we were that desperate for a striker, why was BR putting all of his eggs in one basket by trying to sign Dempsey, who is a midfielder?!?

Thing is, we only know what the media tell us! We can on speculate what actually happened.
One thing is for certain, Rodgers was convinsed he would get 1-2 more players before the window closed.
That could have been sturridge and Dempsey?
I for one, am glad we didn't pay over the odds for either because it sends a message to clubs we won't grossly over pay anymore. Albeit with 6 months and only Suarez

Not sure how true this I though.
