Interestingly, Skrtel is the only one without a vote up to this point - yet I think I remember him captaining the side at some stage when Stevie and Carra were absent, but Agger was in the team. I thought it was earlier in the season, but it could have been at the end of last season, I'm not sure. I just remember being surprised that he was preferred to Agger for the captaincy. If it was last season under Kenny, then it doesn't really matter now.

I think a lot of people salivating for the demise and retirement of Gerrard are going to be disappointed. I think he's be around for a couple more seasons - and many of the players being offered to depose him here will not be around when he hangs up his boots.
It is no coincidence that Gerrard drying up as a goal source has coincided with various injuries to Lucas - and the introduction of a whole new midfield in which Gerrard has been required to anchor. In short, his attacking game has suffered, leading to many fans pronouncing his imminent demise as a player. I think this is ludicrous - and we saw him getting much further forward against Southampton in evidence of things to come.
Like Scholes, Gerrard will adapt and be an important player in years to come. There is just no point plotting a future without him yet. If you think that was the purpose of this poll, you're well wide of the mark, mate. I think Gerrard has at least another 2 or 3 years in him yet. I don't think his decline can be blamed solely on Lucas's absence though. When was the last time Stevie smashed a goal into the top corner from 20 or 25 years? He used to do it regularly, yet I honestly can't remember the last time he did it, and I'm not just talking about this season. Not even just last season either. I'm not writing him off at all, but I think we have to accept he's not the player he once was. Hopefully he can start to find a bit of form now that Lucas is back. If he can get a few goals and assists, then even better.

Why would he lose that though? Surely as he gets older, that should increase and not decrease? I'm wouldn't be at all convinced that that's the problem, tbh.

I would pick Lucas as captain. Then Reina. Then Agger. The Suarez. Then Skrtle. Then Allen. Then Shelvey. Then Johnson. Then Enrique. Then Kelley. Then Sterling. The Suso. Then Coates. Then . . . . . . . . . . . . . eventually I would get to Downing . . . eventually.

I voted Agger. However I can see Suarez taking over captaincy if he is still at the club when Gerrard retires
I never finish anythi

I voted for Lucas, with agger being the VC for the future. The shout about Suarez being Captain is fair as well, I like the Captain to be able to lead by example and 'take the game by the scruff of the neck' by scoring, like Gerrard has done for us on many occasions. Ultimately though I don't believe we currently have our future captain after Gerrard hangs up his boots.

I thought it was obvious that he's playing with a lot less confidence. i feel the same way. he's thinking too much imo. he just has to follow his gut feeling

I thought it was obvious that he's playing with a lot less confidence. Steven Gerrard is doing a lot of things he has never done in his career, such as regularly misplacing 5 yard passes. When you talk about players being low on confidence, it's usually not players over 30. I think blaming his poor form on a lack of confidence is a bit optimistic. We're not talking about a few games, we're talking about 18 months. Where's the line between a lull in form, and actual signs of decline? Don't get me wrong, I still think he has a lot to offer us, and I think he'll be playing for at least another 2 or 3 years in the first team, but for me, it's clear that he's not the player he once was.

Lucas (Captain) Agger (VC) Skrtel Reina
That's the order for me.
