At what point do the governing bodies decide that we need to bring technology into football?
Their arguments against using technology are so narrow minded it screams insecurity! Once we introduce technology at what point do we draw the line?? Are they afraid that games could be officiated by robots in their lifetime?

Sorry but as a fan of other sports as well as football, I can't understand why it is not in place. Rugby league, cricket, tennis...all sports that have benefited from technology. I am not just talking about goal-line, it would have taken next to no time at all today for the ref to ask the 4th official to check if Suarez was in an offside position.
These bad decisions are starting to become more costly than ever, especially with the amount of money at stake nowadays .

Agreed. I haven't commented all day much because im just sickened at how we lost a deserved 2 points today. Even Moyes said straight after it should of counted. Shocking officiating both in Merseyside and London today. Wonder will there be much made of Valencia diving and getting booked as there was with Suarez? Doubt it.

The same question could be asked about Torres too!

Yep, and Phil Neville got booked for it too. Atleast he admitted to it in his post match interview. When are the FA gonna cop on? Its beyond a joke now its so obvious in all leagues around Europe that technology is needed. The serie A also had 3 or 4 strange decisions today.

I thought they had agreed to introduce goal line technology a few months back, and were in the process of evaluating the different systems available??

I think it's a good idea, but the trouble is it won't stop there. Once goal line decisions are sorted then people will be demanding some kind of technology for offside decisions, and then penalty decisions, and then free kick decisions.......
Yesterday Gerrard was moaning that a throw-in decision is the reason that everton scored a goal. Do we need technology for EVERY single call in a game?

Normally I'd say that just because we had a throw decision go the wrong way, that's no reason to defend poorly and let in a goal. And that's true.

But I think Gerrard is [oops] because the linesman, who's job it is to call throws, flagged that it was for us, but the ref just let Everton take the throw for some strange reason.

Quite right too, why should we not had technology available for offsides? If the linesman is not 100% sure about the decision, he should be able to ask a 4th official to check for him. They do it in rugby league, doesn't take long at all. At the end of the day football fans should want the correct decisions being made, and if that means taking 30 seconds to confirm that a goal stands or not then so be it.

I oppose such technology. Controversial talking points, the could have beens, the should have beens, getting even (rivalry) and never forgetting when you were robbed (history) plus banter about it all is part of the game to me.

I'd take goal line technology if they must but the rest evens itself out to me.

Thats just a kop out statement tho! (pardon the pun lol) A team loses in a major tournament final because of an offside, doesn't make it into the group stages of the champions league, gets relagated from the EPL because of a bad call from an official... all situations that could and will prob happen. There is to much at stake, football is way behind the times and IMO we can do without these talking points. But from your point of view I understand why you would oppose it, as I would understand why anyone involved in media would oppose it.
