The ques aren't good at anfield and it is survival of the fittest and tallest, also the prices are bad, probably the same everywhere i presume? the ladies toilets in the kop were very clean and pleasant though.

The drinks and food thing is nothing new. You cannot take stuff anywhere these days. Events organisers charge people with food stalls a small fortune to set up within their arenas and then they in turn pass on the cost to me and you going in.

It is a recession proof industry.

There is a chip shop near Wembley Stadium £3.50 for sausage and chips. Crap chips and a really poor quality sausage cooked in oil that has probably seen its best days. They really only need open when there is an event on and job done.

Non league football is pretty good in terms of food and drink. You can normally get normal(ish) prices and you can take your drinks in. That and theres generally more variety and it doesn't taste that bad since they've normally just got their food from the local supermarket and warmed it up.

The problem the normal football fan has is that in most grounds the club could sell its capacity 3 times over. If you dont like there's always another x amount of people ready to take your place.

Bit like a motorway service station or food on a train. You have no choice.

You pay for a ticket, it doesn't include food. Unless it was hospitality or something, with a pre-match meal.

With the outrageous prices they ask for on drinks and food, who in their right mind would pay for it?

Eat before you go, watch the match, (what you paid for), leave.

All businesses rape their custom by over pricing the most cheapest of things in canteens, soft drinks etc etc, thats life, thats the way it is. Your not required to pay for it, so if it is to much money, or you couldn't get what you wanted after queuing, so be it.

But, then some people will say "it's all a part of the match atmosphere, I like to eat a pie at half time". Well why not stop tucking into your steak and kidney pie, and sing to create the famous old Anfield atmosphere. Eh?

Buy your flipping pie, coffee, tea, sausage roll, chips, WHATEVER and eat it before the match. wink

Have to agree.

We all know what these places are like before we pay to get in to them. Its simple either pay what their asking or dont.

Nonsense it enjoyment not a endurance test. If you fancy a cup of coffee or a snack throughout the two hours you are in the ground it should not be an ordeal to buy something. Agree you should buy outside the ground but come on whats the point in having the facilities if they are such a shambles

Thing is Stan its pretty much a shambles what ever ground you go to. This is due down to supporters as well. If people cant queue in an orderly manner and have no respect for others around them then its always going to be an ordeal.

To the original poster. I can see why that was very irritating, I would to be urked by the fact that you had to have exact change, I would expect any establishment to be able to provide change bar a car boot sale running low on a float perhaps. And I'd say, you are well within your rights to write a letter explaining how you think this is well below par and maybe they will even give you a scarf or a hat or a shirt or something for your trouble (not being patronising, if you are that annoyed by it then by all means you should write a letter), but I really don't think it is quite as end of the world as you're suggesting. Sometimes companies have establishments that have issues, it happens, people complain, sometimes they deal with it. It really isn't that big of a deal in my opinion.
