If Bayern had won and Chelsea didnt have an undeserved fluke win he would not have signed there. He would have chose the mancs, gunners , city or spurs.

Some of the talk here is ridiculous. Reading some of this you'd think there wasn't a club or player in the world outside the top 4 or 5 in the EPL.
Scouting and finding great players is the same as it's always been. I don't like the Newcastle model because I think everything Newcastle is an outlier, but they did it and so can we and other clubs.
So we haven't signed Hazard, better pack away the scarf and go watch bowls. It really is pathetic drivel.

In all all very top calibre of players, only 2 are homegrown,

Why the childish, bitter hatred towards Hazard? Everyone on this site has been desperate for us to sign him for a year or 2 now. He chooses someone else and he's suddenly a 'whore'?? Grow up! We weren't even in for him so what's the problem? If he goes to chelsea he's a 'whore', if he goes to utd he's a 'manc scum' and if he goes to city he's a 'money grabber'. Pathetic.

Looks like Chelsea are about to sign Eden Hazard one of the brightest young talents for years.
I think if this does'nt hammer home how far behind the big Clubs we have slipped then I dont know what will, he has played all season with our very own Joe Cole and no amount of persuasion from him would he of even considered signing for us, our name was'nt even mentioned on the radar not that we could of expected it.
It's a pity as he is a player we are crying out for in a real problem position for us, I can remember him being linked to us when we played them a few seasons ago but as his stock rose he became too big a player for a Club like ours which is very sad.
The point I am making is that maybe when things like this happen it will slowly start to convince our fans that we are no longer as big a Club as we like to make out, I for one would love to think we are as big as we once was but unfortunately times have changed and the likes of your United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal are bigger and have alot more to offer these big players in wages and providing the big platform to win the games major honours.
I think it is similar to the reasons some Liverpool fans have expectations of grandua when they think managers like Guardiola and Mourinho would even contemplate coming to us. This is true...but about Nottingham Forest not Liverpool.

We should have gone in for Hazard when we first found out about him.
Chelsea can splash the cash, the reason the owners won't let that amount of money go at the moment is because of our past transfers.

I'd like us to take a chance on someone like Hazard.
But it was always on the books, he wanted money, so whoever offered him the most he was going to go to.
