you talk about ambition and a cheap appointtment well dalglish was that all over , not managered in the PL for over 10 years no other club to pay off and then we end up with the worst record since 1954 after loads of money spent , then some cwant to appoint benitez not worked for nearly 2 years sacked from his last 2 jobs but are willing to welcome him back like a long lost son , but martinez a young ambitious articulate manager is the bringer of bad times its just unbelievable .

Fair enough if FSG wnat him.

No problem with that.

But why all the 'interview 12 people shenanigans'?

Just embarrassing and pointless!

Why keep bringing dalglish up? Kenny was appointed as "temporary" manager then earned his full time position. Get over it!

IMO LFC aren't in a position to be taking anymore gambles. Martinez is a gamble. We should be trying to sign a world class manager who can almost guarantee progress but FSG are being too tight with the purse strings.

Their investment doesn't match their expectations

Why do you have to start so many threads complaining about other fans and with an angry face. Who says Martinez is not going to be given a chance. What are the actual words you're talking about from Tony Evans or from Dunk or whoever? Personally I don't know anyone who wouldn't give any new manager a chance> I don't know who you spend your time with...
read tony evans twitter page he is so bitter , plus the sos and there petition , plus other media outlet predicting relegation for liverpool if martinez is appointed just so unbelievable , by the way dunk isnt so bad he just wanted benitez but others just shocking .

Again, you're changing what you said. SOS position is what? What exactly? Tony Evans says WHAT exactly? Because you've said everyone is going to chant for Rafa or dalglish in the first game. I don't know anyone who has said that, it's certainly not the majority, so what's the big deal?

When you look at Martinez, he's obviously a nice guy (being too nice usually doesn't work well in management, but that's not a big issue), so I think fans will warm to him. However, it's when you look at his record that things become a concern.

Wiki tells me that at Swansea in a division below he won 50% of his games (not hugely impressive, but he did well at lower level, however Rodgers has a better % i believe), and only 26% at wigan, after 3 years in the job (Rodgers has a better % with a newly promoted team). So he's not looking as good as even Rodgers based on the evidence.

He's got Wigan to 16th, 16th and then 15th (at least it hasn't got worse). Problem is, the year before he took over, they were placed 11th, under Steve Bruce. Again, that a huge worry.

Now this alone is enough to give a fan a few worries, add in the fact that Van Gaal or Benitez may have been interested in the job, and appointing Martinez seems a strange decision.

That said, I'll give him a chance like anyone else, and hope he does a great job. At least we'll get some goals whatever happens. We can hope that the Wigan job is incredibly difficult and Martinez has been working miracles just to keep them up. I'm not entirely convinced, but lets hope so.
well before valencia benitez got tenerife relegated so in that logic ...................... , cant believe it all the mystic megs predicting the end of the club as martinez is some sort of anti- liverpool appointment

i think he could do a good job young ambitious manager is what we need in my opinion and the likes of SOS need to give the man a chance they act like they speak for everyone who supports the club they certainly dont speak for me and i know a lot of fans hate them any manager FSG appoint needs to be backed not booed and chants of benitez in his first game it would make us look a joke if fans do that in game 1 we will look worse than plastic chelsea fans

i will back martines 100% if he is appointed

Remember, Wigan were losing players like a leaky tap after Steve Bruce.
