why are the likes of tony evans (the times) even our own leader dunk plus loads on here and other media outlets , not willing to give say for argument roberto martinez a chance ? , i have already heard that in the first home game what ever the result certain people who say they are kop season ticket holders want to start the chants for benitez and or dalglish to return , for me this is now turning into anarchy and it will be just so unbelievable if it is to be martinez unlike what happened to roy hodgson who wasnt welcomed , i would like to think if it is martinez he is given a massive chance and welcomed .
Why do you have to start so many threads complaining about other fans and with an angry face. Who says Martinez is not going to be given a chance. What are the actual words you're talking about from Tony Evans or from Dunk or whoever? Personally I don't know anyone who wouldn't give any new manager a chance> I don't know who you spend your time with...
read tony evans twitter page he is so bitter , plus the sos and there petition , plus other media outlet predicting relegation for liverpool if martinez is appointed just so unbelievable , by the way dunk isnt so bad he just wanted benitez but others just shocking .
Again, you're changing what you said. SOS position is what? What exactly? Tony Evans says WHAT exactly? Because you've said everyone is going to chant for Rafa or dalglish in the first game. I don't know anyone who has said that, it's certainly not the majority, so what's the big deal?
When you look at Martinez, he's obviously a nice guy (being too nice usually doesn't work well in management, but that's not a big issue), so I think fans will warm to him. However, it's when you look at his record that things become a concern.
Wiki tells me that at Swansea in a division below he won 50% of his games (not hugely impressive, but he did well at lower level, however Rodgers has a better % i believe), and only 26% at wigan, after 3 years in the job (Rodgers has a better % with a newly promoted team). So he's not looking as good as even Rodgers based on the evidence.
He's got Wigan to 16th, 16th and then 15th (at least it hasn't got worse). Problem is, the year before he took over, they were placed 11th, under Steve Bruce. Again, that a huge worry.
Now this alone is enough to give a fan a few worries, add in the fact that Van Gaal or Benitez may have been interested in the job, and appointing Martinez seems a strange decision.
That said, I'll give him a chance like anyone else, and hope he does a great job. At least we'll get some goals whatever happens. We can hope that the Wigan job is incredibly difficult and Martinez has been working miracles just to keep them up. I'm not entirely convinced, but lets hope so.
