Bari I agree with your logic but you know what I am past caring its not just Dalglish who was a ridiculous appointment but the whole club is going nowhere wheres the new ground? what is the vision for the club? where is John Henry does he exist ? He wasn't a ridiculous appointment. In hindsight, maybe you could say that. At the time he was brought in, it was a 100% no-brainer. After he did so well then, it was impossible NOT to give him the job. There would have been uproar. He earned his chance. He got it, and it hasn't worked out. So be it. It wasn't a ridiculous appointment though, it was 100% the right decision for me, I'm not gonna go all 'Captain Hindsight' on everyone, that's too easy really. I take your point Henry in a way was out manoeuvred by Dalglish, Henry had to give him the job there would have been huge fan backlash at that time. But I still feel then Henry and FSG wanted their own appointment. For the few of us old boys though we knew what we were getting with Dalglish I was prepared to give it a chance but it’s turned out actually worse than I thought. The big danger with Dalglish was that he would do ok neither good or bad and he would be impossible to get rid of. But events are such that it would be quite an easy decision for FSG to get rid of him and I think no fans would mind even the pro Kenny legend ones. If he goes, at least he's had his chance. If he'd been dumped at the end of last season after his great work, not only would there have been a backlash, but if the new manager hadn't worked out either, we'd be now all talking about what might have been with Kenny and how wrong the owners were not to give him a chance. Hindsight is a fantastic thing, eh?

I think the truth, as it always does, lies in the middle. It is very true that it was nigh on impossible to not give Kenny the job. He had a fantastic record as interim, the obvious back of fans, it was the fairy tail appointment, for owners so new to football it was the obvious choice. But equally I don't think its just hindsight that brought it into question. I wanted the fairy tail ending but I couldn't see it happening even at the time. It didn't seem the intelligent choice to pick a man who had been out of management for so long, and achievements over half a season when you are under the 'new manager' factor with all the other morale boosts the club was having at the time I didn't necessarily think would be indicative of his potential permanent reign. I think a larger number than people seem to want to admit said at the time Kenny wasn't the right choice as a long term appointment, myself included, but so too at the time I realized to not appointment would spell disaster for the owners burgeoning relationship with our very vocal fans.

Oh I agree. It was almost not ideal that he did as well as he did last season, but once again, who would think ill of that? We all wanted him to succeed, and yes, stuff like him being out of the game were thrown around, but having had Roy previously, and Rafa for 6 years previous, I was delighted to have a proper 'man-manger' again - someone who I believed would instill belief into the players and put an arm around them. The longer the season has gone on, the more I get the impression that's not so much the case. Anyway, His appointment had to be made at the time. It wasn't what we had in mind originally, but most of us were delighted to see such a club legend back in the hotseat (although I know some weren't). It hasn't worked out, so we'll presumably look elsewhere for a replacement - there's nothing to say that things will work out for the next man, though.

Just been talking to a 'bitter', albeit a friendly one that I know, and he is seriously worried about this weekends match, especially as Pianar isn't elegible as apparently he played for a couple of minites only against Stevenage.

In one of your and a few others threads, yes, all day long if you wish. I'm not subscribing to any of them at the mo though. Will wait patiently to see what happens over the next 6 weeks before Matilda and meself start swinging into action...possibly.
