I do not have a terrbile attitude, merely a different opinion to your own. I've never been inetrested in the FA or League cups, they are simply a distraction to the important stuff ie the League. In my opinion, domestic cups are not high on the agenda for our owners as they do very little for our worldwide marketing potential and offer relatively little prize money in the scheme of things. If you like them, good for you but don't question my attitude. Any team hanging on to carling cup success to determine their season is showing a small club mentality. Like I said though, enjoy your day out at wembley but don't get fooled into thinking a win means we are progressing in any way, shape or form. I certainly won't be getting carried away with myself if we win the League Cup, but how you can say winning trophies is not a sign of progress is a bit strange to me. I'm absolutely fine with the difference of opinion, I just don't like truth distortion to suit an argument. I think winning Cups is a form of success, they dont carry weight but it's very nice for the supporters to celebrate, am afraid thats all our Club is now, a Top 6 finish and maybe one or two domestic Cups, it's been like that for a while now unfortunately. The problem I have is that I honestly believe we could of had that anyway without spending over 100 million pound on absolute dross, the right players could of cost us about 30 or 40 million and we could of still achieved what we will porobably achieve this season anyway. The most important factor for me, that comes with winning trophies is a winning mentality. Instilling a winning mentality into a team is vital, and nothing helps with that more than winning trophies. When we won the cup treble in 2001, we hadn't won a trophy for 6 years previous. I have no doubt that the first win of the three (the Worthington Cup) aided the mantality of the players to go on and clinch the other two. Same as from about 2005-2009 in the Champions League under Rafa. We won it, flopped the next season, okay, but then got to the final again the next season, and got to the semis or quarters every year for the next few years. I always had the sure belief that we were gonna win going into those European games. European heavyweights - you name them, we beat them. There are a lot of factors that contributed to that, like decent players, and excellent tactics from a smart manager, but I think the vital ingredient was the mentality and belief of the players. the game has moved on even further since 2005, there are Clubs who have gone even more richer while some have gone even more powerful, where we have gone backwards, winning a Carling Cup or F.A.Cup will have no bearing in making us any closer to winning the League, the bar has been raised yet further to the point we are no longer a big enough Club to win the major trophies any longer.

When people say Henry is not bigger than the club. Well actually he is he owns the club it belongs to him. If he wanted he could close it down tommorrow and build another tesco on the site of Anfield. He would get a lot of agro if he tried it no doubt but legally there would be nothing in the world to stop him. Likewise the ultimate future of the club rests with Henry not with any of us the manager or the players. Wrong! Legally you can't build anything on top of Anfield since it's holy ground - literally spoken that is. Only at Anfield and Goodison Park of the EPL arenas you can have your ashes sprinkled!

Van Gogh yes you are right they are consicrated ground. But that would not stop then building a Tesco there's lots on developments on graveyards it goes on all the time. But in any event this does not change the point John Henry is the legal owner of LFC unless you are a shareholder yourself none of us have any rights at all. No more than I own Mc Donalds if I buy a chicken mcflurry or whatever muck they sell in them places.

Why do you keep copy and pasting that argument all the time? What does it matter to you? Is it your money? A'priori we never know for sure, but Posteriori everything is certain. Move on!

A very very interesting post I've just read on twitter, if true, and one that could turn this very debate right onto it's arse....
Dan Kennett @DanKennett Times reporting that #lfc statement strategy formulated by Ayre and Kenny, approved by Fenway.

In such important games KD leaves Bellamy on the bench and plays Spearing over C Adams this made Stevie G have to play so deep in mid field Henderson and Downing not playing good give Maxi a chance and leave Carroll on bench look to Africa for a cheap but good goal scorer like Ba or Cisse or someone with some fight and heart which Carroll doesn't have!!!!!!!!!

I think it has to be said. The real problem is the xenophobia that exists in British football as it pertains to South American players, particularly from Uruguay and Argentina. Let's begin with Forlan. Granted his stay in Man Utd, was not successful, but he didnt play in many continual games, and was constantly left on the bench. Now look at him, hes one of the best strikers in world football in the last 7 years, culminating with his golden boot in the World Cup. Then we have the case of Tevez. Granted Tevez' decision to not play for Mancini in that match against Munich was ridiculous, as was his posturing to leave England. But lest we forget when he first moved to West Ham, he was criticized and cited as controversial, because of his third party ownership. Im sorry, but how does that make him controversial? That is the fault of shady agents, and yes Tevez' agents the KIA group is shady, but to come down on Tevez as controversial AT THAT TIME, was ridiculous. Then when he moved from Man UTd to Man City, many were saying he wasnt going to be a good player, he only was one of the top scorers in the Prem League for two straight seasons, which might explain his frustration at not playing a major role this year, and being brought in as a sub against Bayern. Now we go to Suarez,( mind you there are other cases, Veron comes to mind) when he came to England the questions were that he wasnt worth the money, and how would he adapt. In fact a certain Andy Candypants Carroll stole all the headlines, being that he was british, and that he had a 35$ million fee. So who was the big error looking back? Finally when we look at this past weekend, how come no one makes mention of the fact that John Terry and Anton Ferdinand did not have to shake hands before their game? Why was this scrapped by the FA? BECAUSE IT INVOLVED TWO BRITISH PLAYERS, not a south american player, who has been constantly criticized. The day the FA, and the British media, learns to accept South American players as talented, and decent human beings, is the day that the Premier League will be free of racism. Or are we going to sit here and act like somehow Wayne Rooney is a man of higher character than Carlos Tevez or Luis Suarez? these are football players, furthermore, they are strikers, a position that asks for personality, and a strong one at that. Yes British football has their class acts, Steven Gerrard comes to mind, but to criticize every South American talent that comes through smells of xenophobia. Particularly when we are talking about A BLOODY HANDSHAKE!!!! The same handshake that was taken away when Terry and Ferdinand met the other day. Where are these points being made in the main media? All they talk about is Suarez' guilt. The British media, and FA should be ashamed, as should any fans of the Premier League that aren't thinking critically about these issues.
