Not sure about that

He's no right winger that's for sure and is better in the centre of the park but the only games in which he's really impressed me have been a couple where he's come on as a sub - the league game against the Mancs being a good example

He has a tendency to go missing in a lot of games although I agree that he looks increasingly disciplined of late.

The unescapable truth is that like Adam, I don't think he's up to the standards of Alonso or Mascherano, a big ask obviously but let's not forget only three years ago we had these two along with Gerrard (in front) in the centre of the park - sadly the likes of Adam, Spearing and Henderson don't really compare

However he could turn out to be be another Lucas so I wouldn't write him off yet

That's optimism in the extreme.......Lucas was the best player in Brazil when we signed him - Henderson wasn't even the best player in Sunderland!!!!

Honestly before his injury I honestly think Lucas was maybe the best dm in the world at the time, I can't think of another player as a soley destructive midfielder who is better or was playing as good as him before the injury. De Jong and Alonso are the only two I can think off. Certainly no one in serie A and no one for real or barca so that leaves Bundesliga and premier league and no one for Dortmund or Bayern come to mind and only De Jong in our league.

Be honest, we have seen 'nothing' to suggest that Henderson will ever be worth £16 let alone £16m!! Comparing him to Lucas because Lucas had a slow start to his LFC career is absurb. Lucas was always going to come good - we signed him after he'd been crowned Brazillian footballer of the year!! Henderson is a joke of a player that gives us nothing. He doesn't do much wrong, but he does even less right. He just doesn't seem to be on the pitch getting involved and some people are getting tricked into thinking that's a good thing. What remarkably low standards you have for an LFC midfielder!

Have you ever kicked a football?

He was not the best player in Brazil. Henderson was however one of Fifa's top 11 youth prospects in the world and captained the U21 side.

He will come good. He's only 20 FFS and people are expecting him to play like stevie?

The good thing is that his fundamentals are all there. His passes are generally pinpoint and a few has resulted in assists. He just needs more exposure to mature into a hell of a midfielder.

I agree that Henderson doesn't look sanything like a £16m plsayer - something I saud when we signed him - althohgh i don;t remember many people agreeing with me back then

He hasn't been quite as bad as I feared he might - but that's not saying much

What I would dispute is the notion that 'Lucas was always going to come good' as I don't remember too many sharing that view in 2008-2009 - and I say that as one of his biggest detractors

Even though Rafa got him for little more than £7m he looked a poor signing - much like Henderson today

Now he's a quintessential part of our first 11 - so I think it's too early to condemn Henderson as a complete flop

He might surprise us all and come good - much like Lucas

I admire your stubborn streak in not letting facts deter you!!! Who gives a t0ss if FIFA rated henderson as a prospect?? We all know that FIFA know sweet FA about football.
I think it's fair to say that Lucas WAS always going to come good - his slow start was down to being asked to play as a defensive midfielder when he's an attacking midfielder by trade.
There's a massive difference between winning the brazillian footballer of the year award, and being recognised by someone at FIFA as having potential!!! You're clutching at straws.

He wasn't signed for 16, he was signed for 14. I think he's been fine so far, though he does seem to go missing sometimes, but he's only 20. If he continues to get experience at the first team he'll mature rapidly. You can't expect him to be Gerrard as soon as he starts playing.

Shows how much faith the gaffer has in the young lad.

I must say that Hendo has been unspectecular but he sure is effective playing the unsung hero role in midfield. He was extremely disciplined and made sure none of the scum had anytime on the ball while he was near any of them.

While Carroll and Kuyt get the plaudits, Hendo is slowly cementing his place in the side as an important first team player.

I perosnally think you have completely missed the point. Gerrard has looked tired when he plays 60+ minutes, at which point hendo can still get about. That's why he sacrificed gerrard. Hendo hasn't been an unsung hero he has just been playing averagely, he does very little of note and a better signing in that position could have been really important this season. Maybe he will get better I hope so as he is still really young and was great for sunderland. It does make me laugh how desperate people are to big up carroll's performance. It was a good performance, not just by his awful standards this season it was a genuinely good performance by a limited hold up player. But we want A LOT more than that. Again another signing in that position could have done a lot better. So lets not get carried away.
