Agreed! If we can beat the 2 top teams in one week, then why should it be impossible to collect some more points than Chelski and Arsenal during the remainder of the season? Remember it's never too late to give in!

Remember it's never too late to give in! The reason is simple, we have never won more than two wins on the trot while the other two have, Arsenal have proved they can win 8 on the bounce and thats as bad as they are. The reason why it's impossible is because beating City and United is what it is beating them in one off games nothing more nothing less, you need to put runs together and we dont have the players or manager to put that in place.

No necessarily true.
The league standings doesn't directly stem from how many games you have won on a row, but how many points you have collected all together.
At the moment we are just 1 point behind Arsenal on 5:th and 6 points behind Chelsea on 4:th. Both of those teams are yet to come to Anfield - a massive opportunity for LFC to put things right in other words.
Arsenal rely on just one player for their success atm. When he wasn't on form in the beginning of the season they were just awful. They might hit that terrible form again, while we hopefully will go the other way and pick up some momentum as Gerrard and Suarez soon both will be in the starting XI again.
Another thing: About one off games. How many points have we collected against so called better teams (1:st-6:th in the table)?
Arsenal: 3 points (of 3) Tottenham: 0 points (of 3) Man U: 1 point (of 3) Chelsea: 3 points (of 3) Man City: 1 point (of 6) Newcastle: 3 points (of 3) In all: 11 points gained out of 21 and just 2 losses!
Arsenal have just gained 4 points against the same opponents (of 21).
Tottenham have 8 points (of 21) Man U have 14 (of 24) Chelsea: 7 (of 18) Man C: 19 (of 24) Newcastle: 6 (of 21)
So in that group of so called better teams we're on 3:rd place after the 2 Manchester teams (that we just have beaten in the same week) - and with 1 match in hand compared to Manure.
Does this suggest we just have the know how to beat them all in one off games only? I say no!
Of course we all know that our problem is getting it to stick against weaker sides, but if we can make it against our top opponents, then why can't we start getting it together against the Boltons, Wigans and Wolves of the PL? I'm not saying we will manage that, but that we certainly have a possibility to do it!

I think even bellamy has given the hint that 4th place is the most important thing.
I will listen, only if your answer contains wisdom

There are 2 trains of thought here:
1) some fans would prefer the 2 trophies which I'm uguessing might purely be for bragging rights so we overtake Utd in the honurs list
2) some fans (and the club owners) would prefer CL qualification as it means we have more chance of winning the important honours and competing at the top. Financially, we NEED CL qualification.
I fall into the latter category. Being in the CL means money, survival, better players, better chances of winning the league and the chance to win the biggest prize of all. Trophy success can also be determined by the quality of the opposition. We all remember very clearly our exploits againts Milan in Istanbul. Would the pride and the glory be the same if we'd come back from 3 down against cardiff in the carling cup to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat? I think not. So whilst finishing in 4th place doesn't cover us in glory, it is better for the club and would give us a better chance of getting back on top.

...that's 2 potential draws then.

As the top four is really strong would a cup double make up for not making the top four this season. Would this be a successful season for Daglish and would us fans accept it if we did not make the champions league. If we are in it we want to win it. I want to win the two cups and I want to win the PL. The cups are still possible and I want to win both of them. Winning the PL is not now possible, but 4th is possible so I want to get 4th place. Thats what I want, what I get remains to be seen, however I'll accept whatever I get and be back supporting LFC again next season. YNWA

...that's 2 potential draws then. Sure! Or we might cancel the games as well or maybe don't even turn up. That's 2 other possibilities! Or we might win or lose.
