i personally havent seen him play but from the the pple that have seem to think he isnt the answer. they dont think he will cut it at a top club like ours

Or if he costs £6-7mill MAX and hits the ground running like Suarez did and has, it will seem like a total steal considering the money being dished out today for "world class" players. It's worth a risk. IMO.

£20mill + for a Defoe or a Bent....who might not do anything anyway, or a £6-7mill risk on Jelavic. Football is all about risks, it's about time we took one here. He could score f*cking loads and be worth triple what we paid.

But he HAS to score. It is CRUCIAL.

I don't think he would be a player that just takes his money and stands there. He would offer us more than what ponytail is at the moment. Either he pulls his finger out or we HAVE TO bring somebody in to do the business.

Personally I'd like us to go all out and get Cavani, whatever it takes. Get him before someone else does. Suarez and Cavani up front, go out and score the goals to win us the league.

It's all fine me saying it, but are the club even looking at players like that? I don't think so, even if we have the money. We could get him, I believe. But we won't even make the effort, because of the presence of Man City.

Carroll was a 'risk' at £35m
Downing was a 'risk' at £20m
Henderson was a 'risk' at £16m

No more risks please. How about our next managers spends the kind of money like the figures listed above on quality players that will take us forward once they have settled in?

If you were Cavani, would you come to Liverpool? Bear in mind the lack of european football, the amount we could afford to pay him and also the quality of players he'd be lining up with....

not sure that huntelaar would be a risk? plus him and suarez have a proven scoring record. thoughts

Having a proven scoring record in Holland doesn't necessarily mean much though. Granted, he's done well in Germany but at 28 he's roughly the same age as Defoe but without lots of premiership experience. Could be a gamble and I can;t see Schalke being in any rush to sell their top striker.

i quite like dafoe as a striker, but is he £20 million worth? n do you think he or huntelaar would be a better link up with suarez

I'd welcome Defoe, for 10m max. He'd offer us a lot more than we've got but I doubt FSG would spend much on him given his age...
