In 1990 Liverpool were going for the title but were jaded they were good but not good enough. Kenny signed an unknown Israeli striker called Ronny Rosenthal who put life back into the team which was the reason that year we won the title. Rocket Ronny had a strange style he received the ball gazed at the ground immediately ahead of him and run and run and run sometimes he did not notice he had reached the perimeter of the pitch and I am sure there was every chance he would have carried on into the car park. In his entire Liverpool career I don’t think he once passed to another Liverpool player. But Ronny scored goals left, right, centre. above and below and destroyed teams on his own. The fans absolutely loved him and for a short period he lifted the entire club. He is famous for that villa miss but check out utube in particular the Charlton game. There will never be another Ronny Rosenthal (thank god) however we need another similar injection of fuel in January or we can forget 4th place. Sometimes good players at other clubs who are good players but for whatever reason are having a bad patch or have fallen out of favour can have a new lease of life at another club even if it is for a short term. Especially Liverpool and especially at the moment when I feel generally the team is playing well but in need of a spark to turn nearly / hard luck stories into success. We all know Carroll is not going to make it but we could keep him on as a squad player and bring another Ronny type player in for the short term with a view to looking for a long term solution probably another £30m striker. WE CAN NOT MUCK AROUND WITH CARROLL ANY LONGER KENNY MUST ACT. And the short term solution above seems our best option.
Yeah, I think we could do with a goal poacher, but not a Rosenthal, I think you overate him somewhat there, Stanley. I would suggest we stop using Henderson on the right and either play Johnson there, or sign a right winger as well as a striker. Despite poor and some unlucky finishing I wouldn't give up on Carroll just yet, e.g. how long did it take Lucas to get into his stride? There are many other examples of players taking a season or two to settle into a team. I suggest we take a line from Kipling... "If you can keep your head when all about you are loosing theirs and blaming it on you..." In other words we should all calm down, the target this year is to make the top 4 and that is still within reach. Hopefully we can sign a decent striker in January, we need cover there anyway, and use Carroll off the bench while he recovers form.
