In 1990 Liverpool were going for the title but were jaded they were good but not good enough. Kenny signed an unknown Israeli striker called Ronny Rosenthal who put life back into the team which was the reason that year we won the title. Rocket Ronny had a strange style he received the ball gazed at the ground immediately ahead of him and run and run and run sometimes he did not notice he had reached the perimeter of the pitch and I am sure there was every chance he would have carried on into the car park. In his entire Liverpool career I don’t think he once passed to another Liverpool player. But Ronny scored goals left, right, centre. above and below and destroyed teams on his own. The fans absolutely loved him and for a short period he lifted the entire club. He is famous for that villa miss but check out utube in particular the Charlton game. There will never be another Ronny Rosenthal (thank god) however we need another similar injection of fuel in January or we can forget 4th place. Sometimes good players at other clubs who are good players but for whatever reason are having a bad patch or have fallen out of favour can have a new lease of life at another club even if it is for a short term. Especially Liverpool and especially at the moment when I feel generally the team is playing well but in need of a spark to turn nearly / hard luck stories into success. We all know Carroll is not going to make it but we could keep him on as a squad player and bring another Ronny type player in for the short term with a view to looking for a long term solution probably another £30m striker. WE CAN NOT MUCK AROUND WITH CARROLL ANY LONGER KENNY MUST ACT. And the short term solution above seems our best option.

Wow. It's amazing how history is viewed differently. I remember Rosenthal having abit of skill running with the ball, but I never remember him being any good, or lifting the team. And certainly not "scoring left right and centre" as you say.
I don't think he had much effect at all. It was just that over time, the better team comes through.
Agree with your main point though. If we want 4th, we can't rely on Carroll and need someone else. But either way, the Carroll signing is now looking like a disaster, worse than any signing Benitez made, and worse than any signing Hodgson or Houllier signed. 4th is looking more and more unlikely after results like Fulham. So Kenny's only hope it to keep playing Carroll and hope he works out. Otherwise he's a gonna (or should be). Sadly Rafa I fear that will not be the end of it. We will be lucky to end the season 5th without a finisher. No champions league football and it would be a fool to bet against both Reina and Suarez walking from big offers/tap-ups. It is bound to happen. I would test Arsenal with a £40 million bid for Van Persie that is the magnitude of what is necessary to turn this around or an Anelka type loan signing but with less guarantee of the result.

£40m for 28 year old doesn't make sense, sending Carroll out on loan to Stoke or similar place might help him.
That would mean having to sign a replacement which would be difficult and expensive in January.

if KD decides to sell carroll, it will be at a massive lose to the club.
best deal for KD/club wud be,ie carroll sold back to newcastle, he suits their style of play and KD gets tiote, demba bai, cabaya in exchange.
or kd signs or gets a quality striker on loan or buys one next month ie anelka on loan, torres on loan, drogba on a 2 year deal, diame signs for 15/18m, hulk for 30/35m, etc etc

If there was even a sniff of a chance Van Persie would leave Arsenal in January do you really believe he would come to us with no chance of Champions League football and the inconsistency we currently show.
Especially as City or Chelsea would jump at the chance of buying him if he became available, I reckon even United would be tempted to buy him.

Diame from Wigan? Lol, you have a good sense of humour.
We desperately need another striker to partner Suarez who is a goal-scorer, the only realistic options that I can think of are Defoe, Darren Bent or maybe Lisandro Lopez from Lyon.
