And I don't see Reina trying to transfer to Chelsea or Steven Gerrard at that point. Alonso left, he left with class. he was happy at Liverpool.

Alonso did not leave with class - he left a dressing room in disorder because he refused to accept Rafa's lack of apology. And I disagree that Torres is/was not happy at Liverpool. Alonso was an average footballer who came good; Torres was already good and became great as soon as he arrived. He's in that elite zone where he needs to be at a club that matches his ambition, and he isn't. Were SG at Athletico Madrid now it would be the same; wanting to help the club break into the elite class, but despairing at wasting his career doing so because the owners aren't on the same page.

Oh, and, uh, SG has tried to move to Chelsea more than once, so drop the bullsh*t about who the better man is.

Xabi leaving us was a big loss

but I think losing Torres will be catastrophic. Let's be honest Torres is a better player than xabi. I know they are different positions do you can't really compare. But if you ask any football fan which player they would rather sign, I guarentee Torres will lead the poll by a huge margin.

Torres is out of the same draw as Messi, Ronaldo, Higuain..... He is irreplacable for us

I think Torres is still one of the best strikers in the world and will keep this season in bin if he goes now. The club needs him the fans need him, and I think Suarez needs him. How many strikers hit it off straight away in the Prem League like Torres did? Just think on that with Ngog and Suarez up front (Babel gone).

I don't think we will sell him if I'm honest.

I hope we don't sell him to. If he stays and we continue rising up the table it may be enough to make him stay

The deal must be already done, I think it is too short a time for NESV to do before the window closes, its to complicated a deal. We will just have to wait, we have had a few clubs have there players go through this and stayed this season. It just seems odd of the timing I think he staying.

good points mate. the club needs him as much on the pitch as it does off it. the pull that torres has in attracting top players * and the amount of money we make from selling his merchandise is invaluable at this moment especially without CL. i know we are all upset but you have to think logicically. WE NEED torres more then HE NEEDS US.

* you can say as much as u like abt the fact that players should want to come to liverpool because of the club and not because of torres/ gerrad but this isnt how it works in the real world. i can bet you no world class player would come to liverpool if we were a mid table club with 11 charlie adam.

You're right: we don't *need* Torres, just like we don't *need* SG or *need* Reina. Football is a game played by 11 people after all. But here's the question: how much did we *need* Alonso?

You have a hard on for Torres?
have some respect for yr fellow liverpool supporter
