Liverpool have beaten off competition from Newcastle United to land Valon Berisha from Red Bull Salzburg but are yet to decide whether or not to commit to a deal.
KOPTALK sources claim that Liverpool executives have an agreement in principle in place for the 25-year-old midfielder but that boss Jürgen Klopp is opting to hold off on pushing ahead with potential deals until this weekend’s Champions League final is out of the way.
The player has indicated that he is up for the move to Anfield instead of St. James’ Park. Personal terms aren’t a problem but as yet there’s no mention of what his club are looking for in terms of remuneration should a deal proceed.
It sounds to us that Berisha is in the bag if Klopp wishes to go ahead with a transfer but that he’d rather hold out until next week to see where he stands in terms of his transfer budget. Bigger fish maybe, should Liverpool win the European Cup?
Berisha, who was linked with us last month, is expected to leave Red Bull Salzburg in the summer regardless of Liverpool’s interest.
For now we’d advise you just listen out for reports that touch on Berisha’s immediate future. Check the members’ website for more on this and other deals that the club are looking at.
“Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is interest in signing Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Valon Berisha. We can confirm that the 25-year-old midfielder, who has been capped 20 times by Norway but switched his allegiance to Kosovo in 2016 after they became a FIFA member, is definitely on Klopp’s radar,” – KOPTALK, 10.04.18
