West Ham confirm interest in Christian Benteke

Klopp Benteke

West Ham chairman David Sullivan has confirmed that the Hammers would be interested in doing business with Liverpool for out-of-favour striker Christian Benteke but at the same time has conceded that a deal would probably be difficult to broker because of the salary the player would command.

The 25-year-old’s Liverpool career appears to be over before it’s even started under new boss Jürgen Klopp and he will almost certainly leave the club in the summer if a buyer can be found.

Liverpool ridiculously splashed out a staggering £32.5million on the former Aston Villa hitman last summer despite owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) having already launched their attempts to replace Brendan Rodgers who was sacked just 8 games into the new Premier League season.

Benteke is aware that his face doesn’t fit and his agent is currently considering their next move although the player insists he wants to remain at Anfield and fight for a place in the team.

Reds’ boss Klopp is already looking at replacements with speculation on that front expected to increase over the next few weeks.
