UEFA bend the rules for United ahead of Anfield visit

Manchester United will be able to stay at home and train at their usual base ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League game against Liverpool despite current UEFA rules stating that visiting European teams must stay within 27 miles of the host’s stadium the day before a game.

United can train at their Carrington base today and stay at home tonight rather than having to book into a hotel in Liverpool after UEFA gave them special dispensation.

The Old Trafford outfit argued that the distance they need to travel is only 34 miles and that it wasn’t necessary to leave the comforts of their own training facilities and stay in a Liverpool hotel due to the short journey involved.

UEFA accepted their appeal.
