Liverpool FC Transfer News: Timo Werner – LATEST

Timo Werner continues to be linked with Liverpool despite signing a contract extension with RB Leipzig last month.

There are suggestions that the 23-year-old striker only inked that deal because it contained a low release clause which is understood to be approximately £27million; an unbelievable figure when you consider his ability. The Germany international was within the last year of his conract, though, and Leipzig really had no choice but to agree to the clause or risk losing him for free at the end of the season.

Jürgen Klopp is a known admirer of Werner and if we’re completely honest with you, we expected the Liverpool manager to make a move for him during the previous transfer window as it was widely accepted that the German was a primary transfer target.
