Newspaper reports claim that Southampton would like to take Daniel Sturridge on loan with a view to a £25million permanent move in the summer.
Having lost Graziano Pelle and Sadio Mane in the summer, Saints boss Claude Puel wants someone else to deploy alongside Charlie Austin in attack and Sturridge apparently fits the bill.
It was reported yesterday that Liverpool were lining up a £40million transfer swoop for Southampton duo Virgil van Dijk and Sam McQueen so this kind of counter-speculation doesn’t come as a surprise.
A host of clubs have been linked with the Liverpool hitman following claims that he’s accepted it’s time to move on for a new challenge elsewhere.
Publicly he’s not available but KOPTALK sources have said for some time that Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp is willing to cash in if a decent cash sum can be banked.
