Philippe Coutinho injury news

Philippe Coutinho will undergo a scan on his ankle injury this afternoon.

The 24-year-old Liverpool forward was stretchered off with suspected ligament damage after colliding with Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong on Saturday.

If ligament damage is confirmed, he could be out for just a couple of weeks, or at worst, a couple of months, news that no Liverpool fan wants to hear.

Liverpool have six Premier League fixtures in December including a tricky Merseyside derby at Goodison and Manchester City at home so this problem couldn’t have come at a worse time.

Coutinho, who was left on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his right ankle, has scored five Premier League goals and has six assists for the Reds so far this season.

PSG and Barcelona have been heavily linked with the Brazilian as a result of his progress under Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp but the stance from Anfield is that he is not for sale.
