No early exit for Ian Ayre

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre will not be allowed to leave his position early to take up employment with German second division club TSV 1860 Munich.

That is the stance by senior FSG officials who expect Ayre to see out his notice and leave at the end of the season.

FSG’s man at Anfield Mike Gordon is aware that Ayre has held talks with1860 Munich’s majority shareholder Jordanian businessman Hasan Ismaik to ensure that there has been no conflict of interests.

Confirming their interest in Ayre, Ismaik said: “We want to get the best people to help us [gain promotion].

“Peter Cassalette (club president) and I have led the conversations with him. He is the right person for our future.

“The fact that we were able to convince such a big name to come from a world association to 1860, we are proud. That was not easy,

“When he found out about the tradition of the club, he was very enthusiastic.”
