Former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko has joined Indian Super League outfit FC Pune City as their new marquee signing.
The 31-year-old had been without a club since February following a short spell with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.
He had a trial with West Brom over the summer and turned out for them in a friendly against Delhi Dynamos last month but they chose not to offer him a deal.
Speaking at the time, he said: “I have a lot of good memories from my time at Liverpool.
“It was a great time in my career and I hope I can go back there with West Brom or another club and enjoy some good moments with my ex-team.”
Sadly, Sissoko won’t be returning to Anfield to face his old club any time soon as speculation linking him with moves to Hull City or Sunderland also failed to materialise. For the time being he will ply his trade in India with Pune City.
“Sissoko is a true professional having played for reputed clubs across Europe,” said Pune coach Antonio Habas.
“He told us that he is ready to take the field whenever required. He is known to be a great ball winner, a role that will allow him to support our offence for winning back possession.
“I am excited at the prospect of working with him again, this time for bringing glory to FC Pune City.”
While with Liverpool, Momo won the FA Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the FA Community Shield.
