Liverpool FC Under 23 manager Michael Beale has commented on Mamadou Sakho’s return to action with his team last night.
The 26-year-old hasn’t figured for the Reds since the Merseyside Derby back in April but was given a full 90 minutes last night in the 2-1 International Cup defeat to Wolfsburg.
Commenting on Sakho’s appearance at Prenton Park, Beale said: “He trained with us yesterday and it was all about seeing how he felt tonight.
“We had a quick chat with 10 minutes to go and he felt fine, no problems.
“I thought he acquitted himself well and was unlucky not to score.”
After the game the player took to social media, albeit positively this time, to say how glad he was to be back.
A decision to involve Sakho in the game appears to have been made just 24 hours earlier.
Happy to get back tonight with #LFCU23s 👍🏿⚽️ and visit to the #LFC Academy / Content d’avoir retrouvé la compétition ce soir !!! pic.twitter.com/ooODLMMoSq
